Yeah, 15 years ago. She's 45 now, while Larson is 28. It's pretty obvious that Captain Marvel will be part of the future of the MCU. Can't have an old lady for that.

Marvel has been pretty awesome at picking the right actor. Outside of Ruffalo, they've all been perfect imo, and that is a big part as to why they have been so successful.
RDJ is Tony Stark
Chris Evans is Captain America
Chris Hemsworth is now Thor
Tom Holland is Spiderman
Tom Hiddleston is Loki

Doesn't matter what those guy do, they will always be remembered as those characters.

There aren't many where you say, i bet so and so would have been a better so and so.
I would say they could have found a better Hulk, or really Bruce Banner, and they could have gotten a better Scarlett Witch, but neither of them bother me. They just come off as trying to hard to act, doesn't seem natural sometimes.
Even the minor characters and bad guys have been casted well for the most part.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on Larson, but i agree she does not seem like the right person for this.
I said the same for Gadot, but i like her as Wonder Woman now.

I don't think that she will be terrible, but she may be different. But it's a Marvel Studios film, so her version of the character will quickly become the new norm for that character.

Evans was far from being universally accepted as Captain America prior to his film. But as soon as skinny Steve Rogers jumped on that grenade, he was Cap.

Hemsworth wasn't either until Ragnorak and he became the biggest badass of all time.
it does help when you have competent writers and directors.

I can't agree with you on Ruffalo. I thought is was great.

But I do agree on Scarlet Witch. I just didn't see much from Olsen in that character. For one thing, her hair color was not dark enough. And her features just weren't close enough to the comics.

I liked Larson in Skull Island, and I'm willing to give her a chance as Marvel. But man, I messed up and saw a pic of her feet. I'm not even that much of a "foot guy" and I was pretty grossed out.

I hope I can get that image out of my head.

Between War Hulk's arena for the Illuminati, Veranke, and this.

Marvel did a lot of making up for Civil War's "Totally honest guys, both sides are grey! See Caps team let heroes and villains out the Raft which is now in negative zone hell. That's totally the same as killing Goliath with a rogue Thor cyblone.

That’s an awful lot to glean from a one min trailer for a movie that’s still 9 months out.

Near the end of the of Siege.

Norman Osborn, Iron Patriot, is attacking Asgard with HAMMER and US assets. Until all the evidence catches back up with him, he was basically President Lex Luthor then.

Taskmaster calls him up to tell him to look up as Steve Rogers throws the shield and all the avenger resistance groups fight back with the reorganized us military.

It just simply lacks that "Marvel Universe" energy and slick, fast paced editing and soundtrack that we've come to associate with the Marvel brand

you got all that from the trailer?

That's Norman Osborn, who after taking over SHIELD, acquired Tony Stark's armor and re-purposed it as the Iron Patriot. This comes near the end of Siege, the storyline where Osborn takes his Dark Avengers and attacks Asgard (it was floating above the American midwest after a series of events). Cap and others see Thor fighting the entire Dark Avengers, including Sentry, by himself. Cap rallies the real Avengers, and then more come in, it's hard to get into all the details.

I will say that those big events of the late 2000s were grand in scope.

The best ones to read, to get context in order:

Avengers Disassembled
Secret War (2004 - not to be confused with Secret Wars, the runs from the 80s)
House of M
Civil War
Planet Hulk (not a crossover, but ties in directly with...)
World War Hulk
Secret Invasion
Siege

To add, between secret invasion and Siege.

You'll see a lot of the books and trades collected under the Dark Reign imprint.

Villains fill the team for avengers for awhile. And we get some Norman vs his under the skin Green Goblin instincts as he tries to slowplay.

I don't dislike him as Bruce Banner, i just think had they picked someone better, he'd be in the same conversation as the others i mentioned. His portrayal of his character doesn't stand out like the others. I would say some of that is writing though. Too often he acts like an idiot as Bruce Banner, who's supposed to be one of the smartest human beings on the planet. He comes off as a book smart naive moron at times. The Hulk should have funny lines from time to time, not Bruce. I expect him to be more serious.

Banner is super smart but they never hit which banner they wanted to use.

Ruffalo is playing a lot of Ultimates nerd banner while Norton was portraying the 90's banner on who is much more collected usually.
