To be honest, her base power may be the most powerful of any Marvel hero so far. She can absorb, manipulate, and project any type of energy thrown at her, as well as fly. Really she should be able to take on Superman. She has a weakness to magic, but that’s really it. From what we’ve seen in the MCU, she should be by far the most powerful of the Avengers.

She could wipe the floor with everyone on your list except Thor without breaking a sweat.
Her powers are enhanced strength, flight, durability, and she can shoot energy bolts from her hands.
TBH, her and Thor are the only two that stand a chance at going toe-to-toe with Thanos and winning.

So you'd disagree with the Marvel Wiki that puts Iron Man ahead of her in pretty much every category?
IM
ms marvel
Ms Marvel against Spider Man would be a awesome throw down. They are very nearly matched in fighting, speed, and strength. She has powers in flight and energy bolts that would be the tie breaker.

Yes. Her powers should be able to crush his armor inwards from a distance. If they were to face each other 100 times, I’d take her 100 out of 100. He’d have to have Thor or Dr Strange be his tag team to stand a chance. What the frick is a blast or a missile going to do to her? Really nothing.

Coming from absolute ignorance. She’d kill him pretty instantly. Spider-sense doesn’t matter when you control all energy. I’m not sure how you can make much of an argument that Spider-Man could beat her. Any punch she would absorb and she would absorb (ie dissolve) his webs. Seriously how could Spider-Man possibly defeat her?

Hmm.
I've only read about two comics ever that had Ms. Marvel in them. I didn't realize she was another one of those cheat code comic book characters that I hate so much.

Am I wrong to assume some of those powers must have been more recent additions? I read the first Ms. Marvel comic and a lot of Xmen with Rogue using Ms. Marvel's powers... but aside from the absorbing other people's powers and memories with touch thing Rogue wasn't nearly as much of a cheat code.
Strong, durable, flying, and the bolts thing were there but not as overpowered as were mentioned here. The distance power thing sounds very different.

Actually, Brian Michael Bendis has really powered her down in the last several years.
When she goes "Binary" (similar to Jean Grey going Phoenix) she can destroy planets.
As far as Iron Man goes, *Comic Spoilers below!!!!!

not the best costume they've had, but maybe that's her Carol Danvers the pilot outfit.
they've done a good job of not messing with people's look from the movies 90% of the time.
and i'd effing love a hint at the xmen crossover with rogue sucking her powers out at the end of infinity war. they've done a good job of blending actual comic storylines with their own twists.

So does anyone want to explain who the character Captain Marvel is that she’s playing? What their power is and how strong they are? How does this small chick become some powerful super hero? Where does Captain Marvel rank among Iron Man, CA, Spider-Man,Thor, etc etc
Captain Marvel is Maj. Carol Danvers of the USAF. She saved the original Captain Marvel, a Kree warrior stuck on earth, and in the process, ended up infused with Kree DNA (it's complicated, and its comics).
She was originally Ms. Marvel and was an Avengers in the classic era of 70s but left the group after the, er, Rape of Captain Marvel. Horrified by the plotline, Chris Claremont had her killed and her consciousness put into Rogue for about a decade after a brief period as both Warbird and Binary (again, comics). Up until this point, she was a C-list character with, to be a charitable, a "problematic" history. She was revived in the late 90s as Ms Marvel again, and most of that history scrubbed away save her origin.
In the aughts, Kelly Sue DeConnick took over the character and rebranded her as Captain Marvel, dropping the Ms, a relic of 70s feminism, and redesigning her costume. It was an instant success, the comic sold like it never had before, and it gave birth to a legion of fangirls known as the Carol Corps. Captain Marvel's popularity boom led to her becoming a leader of the Avengers, and one of the top characters in the Marvel stable. Civil War was Iron Man v. Captain America. A decade later, Civil War II was Iron Man v. Captain Marvel.
Anyway, as Captain Marvel, she is one of the most powerful human characters in the Marvel Universe. She's the intergalactic liason of the Avengers, essentially, and a great tie in to the Guardians of the Galaxy, who she briefly joined before now heading up a new version of Alpha Flight. Most of her adventures are in space, as she has near limitless energy powers. In the comics, she's romantically involved with Rhodey (War Machine) and her best friend is Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman).
So, she gives the MCU a major female character, a powerful heavy hitter in the league of Thor or the Hulk, a love interest for Don Cheadle, and a link to the Guardians. Honestly, she should have been in the MCU a long time ago, and Marvel dropped the ball, letting DC get to major film headlined by a female character first. And yeah, she's not a household name, but neither were the Guardians, which is frankly a batshit insane comic book for a Big Two.

1) The top Google result is now Marvel's, Captain Marvel so Google has spoken on the issue
2) DC didn't even create Captain Marvel, it was a Fawcett creation
3) DC subsequently sued Fawcett and was the cause of it going dormant and ending publication in 1952
4) Even though he was Captain Marvel starting in 1972, the comic was Shazam
I'm confused at the people who get so mad at this one, because it wasn't DC originally and using an "original" name is along the lines of being historical of which the comic is not DC, DC are the ones who killed it, logically Captain "Marvel" makes sense under Marvel, etc.

Different character. Due to Captain Marvel's popularity, another writer, G Willow Wilson, had a teenage Muslim girl take the mantle of Ms Marvel because Carol Danvers was pretty much everything she wasn't: powerful, beautiful, blonde, popular, and pretty. Carol Danvers signed off on her taking her old name as a tribute.
Ms Marvel is essentially the only Inhumans character that anyone gives a damn about.

Also, Marvel had a pretty long run of Captain Marvel comics in the 70s written by the great Jim Starlin. This followed the Kree dude on his adventures through space (and introduced such characters as Drax the Destroyer). It was a way to keep telling the Kree-Skrull War, basically.
Anyway, Marvel killed Captain Marvel in its first graphic novel they ever published The Death of Captain Marvel, around 1980. He died of cancer. It was a big event comic, and due to the nature of his death, he's never been brought back to life.
It's a classic. You can also see how Carol Danvers' current look is based off of his. Which makes more logical sense.
