Borat beats Hamilton for Golden Globe

I’m not a big Borat fan, but watching Manuel Miranda’s face when Borat won for best Comedy or Musical was priceless.

And he just beat him for best actor.

Only one of them made an actual movie, so Lin should probably get over it.
ETA: I actually thought Andy Samberg had the hardest time looking happy to be there.

I’ve seen both. And I know there’s Hamilton fatigue, but trust me, Hamilton got robbed.

The woman who played Borat's daughter made that movie. She was hilarious.

Filming a play and releasing it on Disney+ does not make it a musical.

No, it didn't. It won a ton of Tonys, because it's a play -- a play that premiered six years ago. A filmed play performance has never been eligible for this award before, and there was no reason to make Hamilton eligible this year except to have Lin Manuel appear on the broadcast. It winning would have been ridiculous. Even more ridiculous than the level of absurdity the Globes already normally feature in their ceremonies.

SBC’s movies are like crappy reality TV shows adapted for the big screen. He films 100 of hours of people caught on candid camera, stitches together 2 hours of mildly funny content in the editing room (often times misleadingly edited, as well as misleading the people he films), and throws in some scripted elements to give the semblance of a story.
Edit: It’s cruel, unethical, and lacking in artistic merit.

Palm Springs should’ve swept the comedy awards

Absolutely. I’m a conservative but absolutely love Borat humor for what it is but it’s garbage that this crap wins.
Purely political.
Feel really bad for Palm Springs.
Hell I feel bad for Hamilton and LMM, even though a play recorded 6 years ago shouldn’t have even been nominated.

Well said, Cohen is an unfunny hack.

Was the broadcast any good? I’m kind of done with woke Hollywood after the election so I don’t want to give clicks or ratings. But I am curious.

It's hard to pick the exact moment or moments when we officially get old, but one of those moments for me was when I stopped enjoying prank or hidden-camera comedy.
I laughed pretty hard when i first saw the Borat tv episodes, but watching those bits drawn out in movies kind of ruined it for me. As a naturally good liar, I started realizing that it doesn't take much comedic creativity to lie to people and record their natural reactions. Especially when it's like little old ladies trying to be nice to the weird man from out of town.

Honestly from what I’ve heard from Borat 2 it’s just making the commoner like you not only look like an idiot but also to put you filthy peasants in your place. Yeah there was some of that in the original, but I do think Sacha is a uniquely cruel human being in Hollywood that wants to tell you what to eat. He’s a Grade A a-hole even if he’s a talented one and hates every single person reading this. I do think Sacha Baron Cohen is an evil human being who gets his rocks off by ruining lives. I’ve enjoyed much of his work, but he quite frankly can eat shite and die for all I care.
I really think that Sacha is uniquely inhumane and evil, and he can quite frankly go to hell and likely will. Most of Hollywood at least will put up an image of being humane, but Sacha does not. He simply tries to ruin anyone’s life he remotely disagrees with, and is completely remorseless for it thinking he’s truly better than you and you deserve everything he’s dissed out to you. As funny as he can be, I do think Sacha Baron Cohen is a uniquely evil human being, he’s got a lot to atone for, and is probably the single biggest bully in Hollywood. He’s an absolute scumbag.

Stop sugar coating everything and tell us how you really feel about Sacha.

it's a little more volatile than i would be, but he's not wrong. i laugh at Borat type humor but i recognize it for what it is. shock value at unassuming people's expense.
dude puts people in compromising situations and has tried to ruin lives through selective editing.
rudy's a shadow of his former mayor self and a joke, but they really did edit that to make him look creepy when he was not in that situation.
