CBS is showing the 9000th episode of The Price Is Right today, and they’re showing clips of old episodes from Barker’s tenure.
He was 48 years old in 1972 when he started hosting the show, and hosted for 35 years.
48 years old and most of his career and success were still in front of him.
If he lives to December this year he’ll be 97.

Watching The Price Is Right in the 80's while staying home sick from school is one of my fondest childhood memories. Weird thing is I don't really remember watching it much over the summer as a kid. Only watched it when I was home sick from school.
I think in the summer, we were usually already outside playing when it came on, or already at the pool.

70s and 80s for me, that and Wheel of Fortune (when they bought shite at the end).
That, and Gatorade in the glass bottle/jar.

One of the greatest cameos ever.

Man, the Price is Right with Bob Barker will always be one of the GOAT memories of childhood. The show sucks with Drew Carey.

Same here. I remember it most from watching it when I was home sick. I think I watched it a little in the summer, but not much.

Just wanted to come by and say The Price is Right with Bob Barker is forever the GOAT.

I agree. He just comes off as disinterested and not really wanting to be there. And he doesn't seem to be all that happy when contestants win...the infamous Terry Kniess episode being the well-known example:

How many of the models did he tag?
Posted on 6/15/20 at 3:03 pm to dallastiger55
A bunch Dallas! Little sport wood loved the models back in the day. Can't believe Bullet Bob was banging all of em. Classic.

I remember his last few years when he’d just get all prissy with everyone. It was great.
Dude was fantastic.

WWe went on a tear on getting celebrities to appear on Monday Night RAW about a decade ago.
One of the funniest ones was them having Bob Barker on for The Price is RAW.
This was one skit of many. Tons of celebrities come on wrestling shows and don't know how to react to the wrestlers and the live audience. Bob Barker was seamless in it and fit right in. One of the greatest guest appearances by a celebrity of all time. He'll get into the celebrity wing of the WWE HOF for this appearance.

Sometimes he would enlist the aid of his "beautiful wife Dorothy Jo." My dad would always comment that she didn't look so damned beautiful to him.

It was a common shared experience for kids all over the country. I still remember it aired at 10:00 am Central.

So many of us have this in common. I'll bid one dollar Bob.
