The fact that a main character bites the dust early still blows my mind. I was shocked when it happened. Great series.

Really enjoyed it. It kind of lagged at the end but overall I enjoyed the series immensely.

I’m a huge BE fan but I think you’re a little high on its overall ranking, mainly due to the truncated final season we got. Ironically, HBO rushed its close to launch Vinyl, which promptly failed after like two seasons.

Gip Rossetti, Chalky White (lolz), Richard Harrow, Agent Van Alden, Rothstein...some great characters.

That’s fair criticism. But the wire lagged at times , sopranos did also, fillers and what not. Maybe I have it high but it should be up there with the greats.

Just finishing a re-watch and probably didn’t give the series enough love the first time around.

Gip, Van Alden, and Harrow were all great characters.

Props to whomever cast the Young Nucky Thompson. It’s probably challenging to find a Buscemi look alike, but they nailed it.

Great overall show. Last season keeps me from ranking it higher. As someone said, some all around great characters.

Van Alden - Why must it always be pandemonium Hahah. Van Alden was great.

i had boardwalk empire right up there with the sopranos and wire, after 2 seasons. The last couple seasons were pretty poor though

BE's acting was great, but the writing and pace were very inconsistent.

In fact, I never finished it, so I can't really judge on how they "stuck the landing." The acting was as good as any show on HBO - Sopranos, The Wire, early seasons of GoT, I'll give it that.

I think they just let costs get out of hand (like Rome). Of course, that never stopped GoT.

I need to give this a re-watch. Watching it live the first time through, I couldn't stand Valentin Narcisse. I think he is what made it a slog to the finale for me, but I've grown to appreciate Jeffrey Wright some more so I think the show deserves a second shot

I have a ton of shows I still need to watch, but I'll watch this one eventually.

I recently rewatched (the SO had never seen it from start to finish). It’s a shame it got rushed off the air like it did with that last season. Otherwise it’s a fantastic show.
