The wire. You have to stick with it through season two, which I find a little tough compared to the rest.

Deadwood is shorter and really good. Maybe start there. They didn't finish it though.

The Wire; arguably the best series, start to finish, to have been on TV.

The wire is one of the best shows ever on tv, if not the best. Deadwood is the type of show I could watch any time of any day and still enjoy it. Boardwalk is really good, but I'd rank it behind the wire and Deadwood.

All 3 are can't miss, I just finished the Wire last week for the first time and it is incredible. My favorite of the 3 though was probably Boardwalk Empire. Al Swearingen on Deadwood may be my favorite character ever on tv though.

Season 1 of The Wire is great. I started season 2 but stopped watching. I just couldn't get into it.

The Wire is great and will give you a better understanding of whats going on in Baltimore right now. It's not a true story but is based closely on the reality of life in Baltimore for the people stuck there.

Watch The Wire first.

Deadwood is also really good. Very dialogue heavy so don't expect a Western action shooter.

I'm currently watching Boardwalk Empire and I am digging it so you really can't go wrong here.

Do yourself a favor and continue. Season 4 is some of the greatest TV you will ever watch.

I really enjoyed Boardwalk and think it is truly a great show, but there are only a couple shows out there that are as good as The Wire. It's been said thousands of times on this board. The show has so much depth.
