it's not just twitter. I get updates to this kind of stuff in my google news feed on my phone. It's not most people. You are right, but it's a lot of the hard core comic fans of these characters that have been turned off by this stuff over the last several years. Mix that with the fact this was an R rated movie and the trailers were underwhelming, and this is where we are. This movie was never going to be another Wonder Woman, but it should have done better.

If I had to guess, most people wanting to see this movie are on Twitter.
I kind of want to see it, but nobody in my direct friend group has even mentioned it’s existence.

If you're strongly against or for woke culture, you'll see updates and news links in your social media feeds on the subject. The masses in the middle aren't getting those pushes. It's why you see people stating that "everyone is against this because of _______". They think the news is saturated with it, but it's mainly the news they've been fed by an algorithm.

I think it has to do with how poorly SS was received, the absolute garbage marketing, and the title of the film. Naming it Harley Quinn and the BoP might have helped because people actually know who she is

You're right that the algorithms in a sense funnel you into an echo chamber, but I don't just see woke stuff with regards to comic news. I just get a lot of comic news in my news feed.

This leads me to a point I forgot to make earlier - "backlash" against BoP due to Suicide Squad's abysmal performance/failures is akin to punishing Solo at the box office because The Last Jedi practically broke the entire Star Wars franchise.

I really don't think it's backlash from SS. Harley Quinn was a high point from that movie.

Problem here is
Either way, the people have spoken. Girl power woke shite has become associated with poor products. It wasn't always this way, but untalented movie makers have used it as a pitch point and here we are. You can stretch for excuses, but that's the way it is.

$32 mil. Flop city.

Agreed. I'd even say that she was the best thing about the film. That's why I thought there might be a Solo/TLJ correlation.
Other than release timing, I don't understand why this didn't hit $50M this weekend.

Good point. That name was stupid. I can't believe that was approved

A variety of factors:
1) The R-rating
2) The marketing
3) The lack of a big name star
4) Feminism
And before you guys come at me about the third point, Margot Robbie - while well known - has yet to prove that she can carry a movie by herself. She has only ever been part of an ensemble. This is the first time she has been called upon to carry a film almost entirely by herself.

Bad news for this film and several others. Mulan, especially.

So far, all February releases in China have been cancelled. It's unclear if movies in March can hold their current dates.

You're a sensitive one aren't you? And I'm not denying that forced diversity and woke culture is a problem. I am however saying this movie has nothing to do with woke culture. All you're doing is buying into Tim's pandering. The dude straight up lies right off the bat.

I had completely forgotten McGregor was even in the movie until you guys mentioned him which I think circles right back to the marketing being abysmal.

They got woke, went broke. Like I said, it's mostly to do with people like Kennedy and Elizabeth Banks and the other shitty movie makers who've used it as a ramrod for their shitty ideas. Deal with it.

I didn't find it "woke", I just didn't like it. I thought the structure was weird, the production design was loud, disjointed, and lacking style. Harley Quinn was a much better character in Suicide Squad. Black Canary was nothing like the comic book character. Huntress was somewhat better, but the overall tone just didn't work for me. Disappointing.

Some of you baws at each other’s neck about a Harley Quinn movie flopping is freaking sad.

It was a lot of fun. All I know about comic books is what I learned from all the movies, so I can't speak as an authority on the original content. Black Mask is an unknown to me, but he was the weak link of the film, IMO.
This was pretty much Deadpool w/ Harley Quinn.

I saw it. It’s literally an hour and a half of period jokes and dudes getting kicked in the nuts
