Binge watching old TV series ER

Since The Pitt is on hiatus we decided to watch some episodes of the 1990s series ER on HBO Max. Neither of us watched ER when it was on its run the first time around.
All I can say is WOW!
Great writing with multiple plot twists along with some actors who went on to major stardom: George Clooney, Anthony Edwards, Noah Wiley, Julianna Margulies, Laura Innes, John Stamos, William H. Macy & Maura Tierney.
I highly recommend watching it especially if you've never seen it.

I mean the early episodes were over 30 years ago. The black and white episodes of I Dream of Jeanie were a smaller difference

The entire thing was a figment of Tommy Westphall's imagination.

I prefer to not think of things in such manner.
But true.

ER is the BEST medical series ever. It holds up so well and the characters are great.

Tarantino directed the season 1 finale. That's what got me to start watching this back in the day.

It’s my favorite show of all time
I like the later seasons.. sure it drops off after 8 but Carter becomes more of the main character and some others that come in are good additions
Neela… lawd have mercy…

See, to me Gilligan’s Island, The Addams Family, Bewitched, Mr. Ed, etc… is ‘old’.
Matter of perspective.

The premiere episodes of Bewitched and Gilligan's Island is closer to the premiere of ER than the premiere of ER is to right now. It's an old show. Bewitched and Gilligan's Island are now ancient shows.

Michael Crichton was one of the GOATs
Crichton graduated with an M.D. from Harvard Medical School in 1969 although he never practiced medicine. Instead he used his extensive knowledge of biology and anatomy to write numerous fiction and science fiction novels.
In addition to producing ER he also wrote:
The Andromeda Strain (1969),
The Terminal Man (1972),
The Great Train Robbery (1975),
Eaters of the Dead (1976),
Congo (1980),
Sphere (1987),
Jurassic Park (1990),
Rising Sun (1992),
Disclosure (1994),
The Lost World (1995),
Airframe (1996),
Timeline (1999),
Prey (2002),
State of Fear (2004),
Next (2006),
Pirate Latitudes (2009),
Dragon Teeth (2017).
I read a few months ago his wife & heirs are suing the producers of The Pitt for plagiarizing his work in creating ER.

I was in love with Ming-Na. I’m still in love with her 60 something year old arse if I’m being honest. She’s still gorgeous.
There were quite a few main character deaths. The obvious one is Dr. Greene. Other devastating ones were the deaths of Dr. Lucy Knight(Kellie Martin) and Dr. Greg Pratt (Mekhi Phifer). (I cried like a little bitch when he died)
Paul McCrane had a great death.
After the original main cast mostly left, it took a minute, but the core group of Mekhi Phifer, Maura Tierney, Parminder Nagra, Gorman Vijnic, Scott Grimes, and Linda Cardellini had a nice run (2003ish-2009).
The main character who held things together for almost the entire show run was Dr. Kerry Weaver (Laura Innes). The only reason Noah Wyle has more appearances(254) than Innes(250) is because she didn’t come on until S2E18, some 42 episodes in. Dr. Weaver was in a leadership position almost from the beginning, whereas it took years for Dr. Carter to achieve the gravitas of an experienced physician (Also , he spent seasons with storylines on other countries). I think Innes does not get the credit she deserves as one of the integral characters of the series.

I bawled when Dr. Greene passed. I still get upset and cannot listen to somewhere over the rainbow without thinking of his passing.

Because she an antagonist half the time then they screwed up her exit and basically made it the same as Benton's.
