Everyone from the original Ghostbusters cast is returning, save Rick Moranis and, of course, Harold Ramis.

quote:

Ghostbusters: Afterlife cast members have mentioned Bill Murray's return, but nothing has sounded like a definitive answer. Today, following an interview with Murray from the set of the film that was published by Vanity Fair, Fans now have the confirmation they've been looking for....that wearing the proton pack is a pain in the butt.

Oh, also that Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts and Sigourney Weaver have all stepped onto the set and are officially back. Unfortunately, Rick Moranis will not be returning.

Murray and co are the vastly superior ghost busters compared to the flat footed and dull female ghost busters.

one of the comments at the bottom:

quote:

They’ll show up for five seconds at the end on a random island where the kids go to offer their proton packs in a plea for training. Roll credits.

Egon's misty eyed grandson hands Venkman his Ghost Trap, Venkman gives a repugnant smirk and discards the trap over his shoulder and over the cliff.

Fake sequel which is actually a reboot. Sorry, not excited for this. I hope by some miracle it's good but not optimistic.

Looking forward to this

Icing on the cake for this film would be to have ZERO references to the all-female remake.

Dang. I wish he would come back and do some movies/tv, but I respect the hell out of him for giving up a great career to take care of his family.

His wife died in 1991. Shouldn't his kids be well into adulthood by now?

I'm not sure that is his reason anymore.

As far as 99.7% of Ghostbusters fans are concerned, that movie doesn't even exist.

I was really into Ghostbusters when I was a kid. Never missed the cartoon on Saturday morning, knew the dialogue of the movie by heart (even though some of the more adult talk went over my head), had all of the toys, and was a Ghostbuster for three Halloweens thereabouts. I for one am really looking forward to Afterlife.

I agree man. I'm secretly hoping they are lying and he shows up in an after credits scene.

Edit: Just looked it up. Apparently he reprised his role as Dark Helmet on an episode of the Goldberg's and has done some voice over work for cartoons.

Sounds like he's just more selective with what he does. He's also got some music projects too.

quote:

After having declined an invitation to make a cameo appearance in 2016's Ghostbusters reboot, Moranis clarified in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he had not, in fact, retired from film acting due to his hiatus, but instead had become selective about future roles.

On Ghostbusters:

quote:

In an June 2013 interview, Moranis talked about reprising his role as Louis Tully in a third Ghostbusters film and his disappointment with the sequel. Moranis said, "I haven't talked to Dan Aykroyd about it. Somebody he's associated with called me and I said, 'I wouldn't not do it, but it's got to be good.' You know, I'm not interested in doing anything I've already done, and I thought the second one was a disappointment. But I guess I'm interested in where that guy is now. I sort of see him as being Bernie Madoff's cellmate in jail. Both of them being so orderly that they race to get up and make their beds."[16] In 2015, regarding an offer for a brief appearance in the film, he concluded: "[Ghostbusters] didn't appeal to me. ... I wish them well. ... I hope it's terrific. But it just makes no sense to me. Why would I do just one day of shooting on something I did 30 years ago?"[3]

Man that sucks he has no interest. I’m hoping that his comments in 2015 were in reference to the 2016 movie and not the current one.

Eh he made his nut, I enjoyed the stuff he was in. I'm pretty sure he enjoyed most of what he did.

If I could sit back and retire young and just work on passion projects hang with kids and grandkids all day I would.

It's become revisionist history that Ghostbusters 2 "sucked"

People began that drivel to defend the Femboot.

Was it as good as the first? Obviously not even close, but that is an impossible standard to measure up to.

As far as sequels go it was far better than your average one.

And Vigo is as iconic as anything else in the Ghostbusters universe.

Just because the original was A++ doesn't mean a B+ sequel was bad.
