It's on now. I always knew Susan was easy, but never realized how much of a sloot she was. I mean, good for Josh to be able to get some at 13, but man that chick was the office mattress.

In her fight with Paul he hits her with the truth, and she doesn't like it:
quote:

Oh come on Susan! He's just another link in the chain! First it was Tom Caulfield, then Handlen. Then Golding, then me! Am I missing somebody?

I don't know how long she's been working there, but she's late 20s in the movie. So let's assume she graduated from college at 22 and got this job. That means she's been with the company for roughly 5-7 years. And Josh is the fifth (!) dude she's shacked up with. That is an impressive run of hoe-ism...almost one per year, and that's assuming Paul didn't leave anybody out.

Maybe I am late to the game on this, but I have it on in the background today and it struck me just how many dudes she's banged from the office.

Am I the only one?

the first time I rewatched this movie as an adult it DEFINITELY hit me. I was like...damn girl.

And the rule of thumb is for every guy you know a girl has been with...double it. So its probably at least 10 in the office

This. I watched this 2 years ago I think. I'm not sure I can watch it again. It's creepy to begin with, then the only good person in the film is poor Billy.

Edit: I should say watched it again. I loved the movie as a kid in the 80s, but now....eh.

Probably a subtle commentary on women having to sleep their way to the top to climb the corporate ladder.

Or alternatively, it was the writer's way of demonstrating that she had be searching (unsuccessfully) for someone that was worthy of her ambition or drive.

It really plays different as an adult in 2020.

She was a chain smoking alcoholic.

It was the 80's, no doubt she was doing blow too.

She was always trying to get ahead.

Like at the office party when she's sidling up to the boss and he tells her, it's a party, have a drink.

I always wondered when Josh returned to being 13 again how explained to his Mom why he had Gonnarea.

I see what you did there.

Obviously.
I mean, I know it was the 80s and all, but she was smoking ALL THE TIME.

During office meetings, at the Christmas party, at breakfast, in the limo, etc. Dead visual giveaway of her ho-ism...

Pffft. In the 80s, smoking was just a way to show "cool".

if Josh was 13 and just "Big", how is she not in jail?

RIP to John Heard (he was in his 40s already for Big) - played a great a-hole that you wanted to like, but couldn't.

That was a delicate "heavy" style he cultivated, from an acting perspective. They flipped it on him for the Sopranos and he was perfect as the broken, corrupt local cop in Tony's pocket.

No, not at all. I am talking about one person per year from the same company office. I think that is pretty crazy.

But reading comprehension is hard I guess, so I can't be mad at you for completely missing the point of the thread.

Yeah, I am noticing shite like that lately with me. For example, I am rewatching Freaks and Geeks with my stepdaughter, and it's awesome just like it always has been. But I find myself relating more and more to the parents and their stances on things. The other day we watched a scene with Lindsey and her dad and he was all overprotective and didn't want to let her out of the house, and my stepdaughter was like "Yeah I totally get that," and I was like "Yeah, so do I...he's absolutely right."

And for the record, I still love this movie. Yes, it's weird and yes, Susan is weird for having banged a 13 year old and not really feeling bad about it. But it's still an awesome movie, and Tom Hanks is great in it.

And yes, Billy is awesome. Drops a solid F bomb too.

For the same reason Marty McFly's dad never questioned why his son is a dead ringer for the Calvin dude his wife knew in high school.

Exactly. At the end of the movie she's like "Oh you! You little scamp! Got all up in these guts didn't ya, ya little rascal.

I'm still a bit smitten even though you're 13."

Back in the 80s this was cute. Now it just seems pretty weird man. Shouldn't she have been like "JESUS frickING CHRIST WHAT HAVE I DONE. Magic has just taken place??? Did God want me to commit statutory rape?????????? WHY???"

Also...this is a pretty good over-analyzing thread, home Alone style

She got off due to the 1976 Freaky Friday ruling.
