My first instinct is to say Winter Soldier, but then I start doubting it because what makes Winter Soldier so good is that it's an amazing spy thriller that happens to have superheroes. It's not defined by the presence of a super hero.

The same could be said for The Dark Knight. ( As a crime drama not a spy thriller)

I'm partial to the original Superman, the first movie made by Richard Donner. I especially loved the parts with Marlon Brando when he makes that speech about earth/humanity.

Also, I'd put the first Ironman in the elite tier next to Superman.

If you mean best movie that happens to have a superhero as it's main character, I'd go with Dark Knight or Winter Soldier.

If you mean which movie best captured a comic book come to life, I'd go with X2, Spider-Man, or The Avengers.

It is close between Superman (Chris Reeves), Watchmen and The Avengers for me.

I'd have to say Superman. It basically started genre and was a great movie.

Then in chrono order:

Superman 2
Batman
Spiderman
X2
Batman Begins
Ironman
TDK
Watchmen

Though I thought Avengers and GOtG were great movies, but anything after around 2010 I'll have to wait and see how it stands the test of time.

For me it's a few ties three ways for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd:

1st: Guardians of the Galaxy - The Avengers - X-Men First Class

2nd:
Captain America Winter Soldier - Spider-Man 2 - Iron Man

3rd:
Batman Begins - X-Men Days of Future Past - Dare Devil (I know, I know. But DD has always been one of my favorite comics and I'm talking about the Directors Cut)

Let's do a top 5:

Hellboy

Hellboy was awful IMO (just hating on the movie, not you liking it).

If I had to pick a top 5 off the top of my head:

Superman 2
X-Men 2
The Dark Knight
Marvel's Avengers
Batman (1989)

Does Blade count, because I really liked the Blade series. I'm not sure it counts though.

hellboy would be my #2 after TDK. Although spiderman 2 was pretty good.

You might have to have read the comic to get how great a job they did on hellboy.
