I think Unbreakable is an underrated movie that realistically takes on the superhero mythos.

TDK
TDKR - this movie gets held to a higher standard than a movie like the avengers, which has more plot holes, more nonsensical behavior and more crappy dialogue, when you sit back and take it in, it's so far above the standards of any other superhero movie or franchise)
Winter Soldier
Guardians of the Galaxy - Chris Pratt really turns in a han soloesque performance which makes the whole movie work. without him, it's not even good.
Tough Call here between Batman (1989) and Spider-Man 2...so the winner goes to the first movie I ever saw in theaters. Batman blends 80s urban decay with classic film noire and just nails it. Nicholson's performance is still memorable despite being upstaged by Heath Ledger. This may be one of the most quotable movies ever. At the time it was made, it was so "dark" to and "realistic" to everyone, and now people would scoff at that. It had a great orchestral score and was the foundation for one of the best animated series ever. It was filmed on a lot, with sets and stages. It's made like an older movie, but looks great. It's even more remarkable when you understand how rushed and unorganized the whole production was compared to Batman Returns (which is definitely more the look Burton was going for, and maybe a better looking movie, but not nearly as good)

I'm still trying to find out why everyone is mentioning the Winter Soldier.
It was ok, but shouldn't be mentioned in the same thread as Spiderman 1 & 2, X2, Batman Begins, TDK, or Watchmen

I'm not even going to try and state which one is the best ever. Heck, I can't even say which one is my all-time favorite. My favorites are:
Batman Begins
Spiderman 2
Winter Soldier
Iron Man
Avengers
Batman (1989)
Superman (1978)
X-men 2
But in what order I'd put them in...hell if I know.

Any X-Men movie sans Gambit (a good one) is automatically disqualified in my book.
Guardians of the Galaxy and Winter Soldier have to be in the top tier I believe.

I agree that it was very good. It just didn't have the same effect on me as the others I listed. To each their own..
