As much as people may dislike him, Jim Carrey should be on that list. He made a helluva living on physical comedy for a long time.

Jim Carrey probably had the better peak
but Steve Martin has maintained
that tells me that people got tired of Carrey's act after a while because it was kinda over the top
dont get me wrong, i was/am a huge carrey fan
but i can watch steve martin all day and not get tired of him

Carrey also transitioned to more serious roles

yea but his best "serious" roles are the ones where he still uses some comedic relief

Buster Keaton
Charlie Chaplin
Charlie Chaplin

George Carlin's mocking mannerisms were a big part of his post-70s act. He obviously wasn't focused on slapstick or impressions, but he had a talent for augmenting his diatribes with hilarious "busybody" animations to highlight how obnoxious some people are.

He went back to the slapstick stuff with Yes Man tho. I LOL every time i see that part where he sings Jumper.
