I've heard lots of good things about this movie, both from friends of mine as well as from this board. But I watched it last night, and didn't really find it all that funny. I found myself not laughing throughout the movie at parts that I think were meant to be funny. Fred Willard as the announcer was the lone highlight in the movie IMO.

However, oddly enough, I kinda liked it..if that makes sense.

Thoughts on this movie?

I found that and Waiting for Guffman to both be like that. They grow on you after a while and you find them more funny every time you watch them.

With you it makes perfect sense.

One of the funniest movies of this decade.

i think Christopher Guest's movies are like that. There isn't a lot of overtly funny things going on, it's mostly the characters that funny.

Have you seen Waiting for Guffman? That is a good one.

says it all right here

the first time I saw it I didnt laugh aloud too much, it was more of a oh, that's funny, but no laughter (if that makes sense)

but, the more I watch it the funnier it gets and I do laugh. I think what makes it that way is that most of Guest's movies are more improv than scripted.

Jennifer Coolidge is awesome in that movie "we could find things to not talk about for hours" "we both like soup"

Catherine O'Harea as the slutty wife was greatness

I liked it. Fred Willard is great.

I'm with you. I didn't laugh as much as I thought I should, but the story and the characters were fun to watch.

Plus I still use this line:

"I'll gouge your right eye out with my thumb, I shite you not, you little freak."

This movie makes me lol many times over. The guy who plays in Kath and Kim and also does the direct TV commercials is freaking hilarious in this.

Best in Show >>> Guffman

Mighty Wind was nto that great.

My favorite part on Guffman was a deleted scene of Parker Posey singing teacher's Pet.

there weren't a lot of LOL moments, but a smile was a permanently fixed on my face the whole movie.

my favorite dog owners were the couple that shopped at j crew, starbucks, had macs, etc.

That was pretty good. I pretty much hate Parker Posey and think she sucks huge. And I thought she sucked in this movie, but her trying to buy the bee was pretty funny. Although it was mainly the cashier guy who was funny.

Loved the marriage/sex counselor scene when they were explaining how "he" walked in and saw them...they you figure out it was the dog and not their kid.

also, the questions from the announcer to the british guy were priceless.

Loved it. It grows on you though, not a hit you over the head funny pratfall kind of movie.

some of my favs:

"And to think that in some countries these dogs are eaten."

"Rhapsody has two mommies"

"Don't look at the fat arse losers or freaks, look at me!"

"We started this magazine, 'American Bitch'. It's a focus on the issues of the lesbian pure bred dog owner."

"She looks like a cocktail waitress on an oil rig."

Loved the entire movie.

I love that style of comedic movie that is funny by trying to act serious.

Same style as Spinal Tap and that movie is legendary.

Tried to get a friend to sit through it. I knew he would not be able to but it was an excuse for me to dust off the dvd. I love the movie. I had to explain that it was 'The Office type comedy' and I hated how I had to relate that show to this movie but you know what I'm talking about. Christopher Guest always casts some of these same people and I laugh every time. I love Eugene Levy/Wife story line and the dinner at his wife's 'friends' house.

I really like this movie. Eugene Levy's character is great, and I also get a kick out off Parker Posey's yuppy character, as well as Jennifer Coolidge. After watching Waiting for Guffman, Christopher Guest was pretty much unrecognizable to me as the bloodhound trainer

In Guffman the scene with Posey grilling 1 chicken wing cracks me up for some reason.

I like Best in Show, but I like Guffman more. I did not like Mighty Wind or For Your Consideration.
