Cameron is and forever will be the most financially successful back to back film maker. No one will come close to it.

When the thread is most successful back to back films, Cameron will be the runaway winner.

I'd wager he's going to break more records for back to back films with Avatar 2 and 3.

Doesn't compare to some of the epics that have already been mentioned, but Danny Boyle doing Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours back to back was a pretty nice run.

Well this is not the correct answer
So we're not just keeping it at two? We can back to back to back ect it?
Hitchcock no doubt.
First Dial M for Murder and Rear Window IN THE SAME YEAR then...
Vertigo
NxNW
Psycho
The Birds
Coen Bros
Raising Arizona
Millers Crossing
Barton Fink
Hudsucker Proxy (I love it but some would end the streak here)
Fargo
The Big Lebowski
O Brother Where Art Thou?
You might could have started with Blood Simple, but, point is the Coen Bros don't really make bad movies.
Kurosawa had Seven Samurai, Throne of Blood and The Hidden Fortress in a four year span.
I love Nolan. His whole career has been a back to back to back hit.
Scorsese
Gangs of NY
Aviator
The Departed
(not counting the Rolling Stones doc) Shutter Island
Lee Unkrich
Toy Story 2
Monsters Inc
Finding Nemo
Toy Story 3
