I just noticed that Snyder is actually writing the script.
Goyer is, primarily.

Yeah, what would he know about being successful.

Like somebody else in this thread said, to me he's one of those actors who always just seems like himself rather than the character he's playing. So my disappointment comes from the fact that this will seem like Ben Affleck fights Superman the movie.
He reminds me a of of Ryan Reynolds in that way. He's ALWAYS that guy. It was one of (though definitely not the only) problems I had with Green Lantern. I kept saying, "Look...Ryan Reynolds is getting his arse kicked by Kilawog. Now Sinestro is gonna kick Reynold's arse..." At no point did I buy he was Hal Jorden, test piolt and Green Lantern.
With Affleck, you seem to only get two guys. The funny Kevin Smith comedy Affleck, and the serious one. The serious one was terrible in stuff like Pearl Harbor, but has gotten better in stuff like The Town. Can he become the character enough to where we think he's the world's greatest detective, bad arse fighter...and not Affleck pretending to be that?
In the end, I can't think of anyone, even Bale (which I think would have been a terrible idea) WB could have cast that would have gotten anywhere close to universal acceptance. I'll wait and see I guess...

pretending to be somebody in front of the camera as your job does not qualify you to know shite.

He's also an oscar winning director. I'm sure you are more successful than him though.

That's what some people are thinking. Could be a major reason he got the role.

For those who are denouncing the Affleck choice, can you please give us a list of problems with him in the role? I'm willing to listen.
Not sure if you were including me in this, but I really wasn't denouncing it. He definitely has the look. We'll see about the acting Bruce Wayne part. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Really, even in his great films, I always think of Ben Affleck's character as Ben Affleck. I never think the same thing about Christian Bale. Maybe it's entirely personal, but I'm not a fan of Affleck as an actor.

I'm assuming this feeling isn't only applicable to Ben Affleck? And I'm assuming for some actors who evoke this, you still enjoy their films?

Because Christian Bale is probably a more varied actor.

Doesn't mean he will suck. I think Sean Penn is a crazy person and I generally don't like him as an actor, person, and could never picture myself being really excited for a "Sean Penn," film.
With that said, he was fantastic in Dead Man Walking. Carlito's Way is very good. Who doesn't love Spicoli?
You may not personally like Affleck, but is he that bad of a choice?

I like the casting. He's a decent actor and he fits the role physically. Would Josh Brolin have been better? Probably. But this is a $250 million movie and Ben Affleck is a household name.
shite, Affleck is miles better than some of the other names mentioned. They were talking about some young dude from the Teen Wolf TV show who looked like the real life version of Vincent Chase.

Not personally denouncing it but as I've stated I wish they had cast either an unknown or a nearly unknown actor...someone who, in the public's eye, would BE Batman. In lieu of that, they could have cast an actor known for BECOMING the character, which is what I think happened with Bale. With Affleck, you get Ben Affleck in Batman's costume. Imagine if back in 1977 they had cast someone like Robert Redford or James Caan instead of the unknown Reeve?

Plus...for once, I'd have liked to see a studio cast Batman with the idea of getting a guy that physically can fill the suit. A guy that actually is 6'4"+, big, etc. When he stands next to other characters, he's intimidating.

Yes, but aside from Adam West, I haven't thought about this about any of the other Batman actors.

Exactly

I can think of worse, but that's not saying much.
