Also on 16 johny fair play seemed to be a big returning star but that's the first I'd ever seen him. Would his season be worth checking out first?

Pearl Islands has one of the best newbie cast with some iconic characters/moments. You should definitely watch.

Again looking for your personal opinion, after 13 should I knock out those highly recommended seasons in the 30s or jump back to 7?

I would air on the side of going back as far as possible first and working your way to more modern seasons. Since the ones you've watched are HvV, Cagayan, and now Micronesia, Pearl Islands (s7) might feel pretty tame to you. Still worth watching bc it's got some of Sandra's finest moments, Rupert being a true pirate, and Johnny Fairplay at his peak.

Just finished S16. The final vote had 8 jury members, what would happen if they tied? Jeff didn't say. I know during the game they'll pick rocks or build fire but surely that wouldn't be the case for the final vote?

Also I'm at the point now where I'm hooked so I don't want to keep bouncing around bc it seems like every season there's someone I want to watch from earlier ha.

My game plan now is to go in order and do 7, 13, 31, 33, 37, 40.

Those are ones that constantly get high marks and/or just have people I like in them. My main question now is, during that specific order I'm planning is there a season not mentioned that I just HAVE to add into the order for some reason? Meaning there may be a season that's good and should be watched but can be watched at anytime after that stretch is done, not something like that but something that needs to be viewed prior to hitting one of those next on tbe list

I know thats in your top 3 ever. Do I need to include it because it's just so good game wise or bc there are characters I should need to get to know before watching later seasons?

Its just a really good season with a few things that haven't happened before or since. There are a few players from the season that do other seasons.

Its on hulu, season 1 through i think 34 are on hulu

They do seem to randomly have episodes missing from some seasons for some reason.

It’s on CBS All Access if you want to really watch it. You can do a day free trial.

I watched a couple episodes of it today because of this discussion. I had forgotten about a twist that season that they haven’t done since.

Thanks all I'll probably end up doing the trial when I'm ready to do the seasons in tbe 30s since none of them are on prime.

Amy input on tbe question about a tie at final jury vote?

Eta: just starting s13 now

I think the tiebreaker used to be who got less votes at tribals during the season, but not 100% sure. It may have even been they just split the million.

If there were 3 in the finals, I think the 3rd one casts the tie breaking vote.

I'd say 8 is an important season. 18 has a really great cast and one of the best winner performances ever. 22 is THE most dominate performance ever with an iconic winner. 27, 29 and 31 are all very good with great winners. 34 Is also a good season with a great winner. If you watched all those plus the ones you've already watched and plan on watching you'll have a pretty good basis for season 40.

We don't know what happens with a final 2 as its never happened before. I do know they've stated in a final 3 situation if two people tie the 3rd person cast the deciding vote.

That's damn near half the seasons lol. I have definitely caught the bug but I don't want to burnout so that's why I targeted just those 6. Of the extras you mentioned, are there any you think I NEED to add in? Like would I be doing myself a major disservice by not watching soon as opposed to doing my 6 then going back and watching them later?

Also I think 22 is one of the ones that someone spoiled earlier itt so I'm probably not as willing to add that one in tbe immediate rotation

Eta: sidenote- I'm on ep 1 of 13 now and man there's no way they could make that theme in today's environment lol

The tiebreakers have evolved... it used to be that the tiebreaker was whomever had the least council votes during the season. That happened a few times early on in regular tribal councils but never at finals.

They also used fire making as a tiebreaker late in games for a 2 vs. 2 tie. Also at one point drew rocks to break a tie, but the people receiving votes were safe.

A tied final council with three people, the third finalist breaks the tie, this happened once fairly recently.

My favorite though is when on season 3, early on with a tribe split 50/50, the tiebreakers were all tied so they had a trivia contest about Africa to break the tie.

Gotcha thank you. In s16 there were only 2 people left so I guess maybe they'd just split the money? Would have been interesting to see, it came down to the last vote.

***season 15 and 16 spoilers below***

I finished season 16 a little while ago. With 5 people left poor little Erik gave his immunity to natalie even though he was clearly tbe oddan out with 4 women and promptly went home. I was dumbfounded he actually did it and felt so bad for him. I was doing some reading about it and saw a list of dumbest moves in history. I only quick skimmed bc I didn't want to see any others but I had heard mentioned elsewhere about james so I really just wanted to find him on tbe list and I saw that in season 15 (this season wasn't on my must watch radar so I was ok with seeing that spoiler) he went home in final 7 while holding 2 idols. How the HELL does that even happen? Cam anyone give some background on that and why in the world he would do that especially so late in the game? I can't even imagine the thought process behind that
