watching the first episode now, damn they kind of sucked, but then they write get back on the fly and i'm floored
i retract my sucked statement, they are clicking now and it's magic
It takes a bit to get going, John was smacked out, Paul was trying to force things, Hogg kept coming up with totally idiotic ideas for the show ("How's about an orphanage, how's that hit you guys?", "torch light Syrian amphitheater?, cruise ship") ALL of them hated the acoustics at the large hangar that was Twickenham but then you to to the end of part 1, Get Back literally appearing from the ether, and moving out to Apple, changes the entire documentary, it all changes after the flower pot conversation.
And then Billy Preston gets there and ooooooh boy it's a ride

It's phenomenal.
Once they hit the roof it's as if someone flipped a switch and they totally gelled.
They were perfect.

"dig a pony" from the rooftop might be john's best vocal performance ever

So we finally got into this last night.
Man, what a rush feeling like you’re just sitting in with these absolute creative geniuses.
It amazes me that this footage just collected dust for 50 years while the reality television phenomenon exploded. We’ve been left to watch no talent half wits stumbling through their 15 minutes of shame while we could have been watching an actual honest to god quartet of inspiration instead.
The moments of creative magic when Get Back and Let it Be were materializing are just incredible to watch.
This is something we’ll take our time with getting through all the episodes, but will regularly have the first ep on repeat again while getting dinner ready or working. Perfect background listening material.
Someone mentioned that this is for posterity, and that’s exactly right. What a gift.

And the first one is the worst episode.
That’s how good this series is.

I'm almost done with the first episode.
I gotta say, this is so cool to watch them work.
Seeing Paul just riff Get Back and even a hungover angry George realizes it's got something to it and wakes up.
The whole .. everyone worried about the show while Paul is trying with Let It Be.
George explaining My My Mine while John and Yoko dance.
So friggin neat to peer behind the curtain

Watching episode 3 right now.
Man, Klein was really trying to hide Billy Preston.
These guys were so fricking slick. John had been fricking off the whole time. He gets on the roof and is money.

On the next album they recorded, Paul did the drums on Back In the USSR because Ringo got pissed at him and quit for a while.

And here is an excellent impression just 10 minutes after Rick Beato watched the whole thing Rick Beato Reacting To The Beatles "Get Back" Documentary

Anyone who didnt love this documentary is either not a music fan and/or not a beatles fan.
As someone who loves the beatles and read a couple books about them, this doc was surreal. Seeing the mild frustration paul and george had to them being able to just figure it out and jam was so awesome to see. I saw a bunch of stuff I knew nothing about. Really happy with Peter Jackson bringing this to life.
Also, John Lennon is my type of dude. Chill as frick and goes with the flow while also being hilariously serious the whole time. He let Paul take over as the head of the band and had ZERO animosity about it. It seemed like he preferred it.
Also again, Ringo is the fricking man. Dude just sat there with no input at all and banged his drums when asked to and showed up on time every morning. Love that dude.

I don’t want an edited version of the series but I can see casual Beatles fans getting bored here and there. It’s kind of the point to leave in the non entertaining bits.

Even the extended argument about boxes and stage issues just happened to have Paul softly playing and singing in the background, writing Let it Be on the spot.
The arguments about location were pretty hilarious at times. Them arguing about going to different countries while confused by the fact that each of the Beatles also had country-based code names like Russia.
I’m just now getting to day 7 but it’s great so far. I hope the quality stays as good.

Definitely. John seemed to be extremely jaded by then but knew when to take care of business. Yoko honestly didn't seem that bad in the documentary.
John's guitar parts on Get Back were fricking brilliant. He really kept it spicy.

Right, but they didn't hold back on showing how insecure George was even though his family was involved in the documentary.
Yoko likely was a factor but I think the main factor was that Paul took over and bossing everyone around, John was too cool for school, and George wanted to do other stuff.
