WTF is this?!?!? Elba fights off a suped up lion that is hunting him and his daughters.

Trailer
The trailer is laughable it’s like one of those silly SiFi movies except some studio probably spent 100 million dollars on it. Tag lines

“This is no ordinary lion”

“I gotta get my family outta here!”

I mean isn’t Idris Elba supposed to be a huge movie star?

He’s seemingly been the “next big star” for like 10 years. He’s a great actor but it just hasn’t quite happened for him. Maybe because he’s doing movies like this…

I mean who is this movie even marketed for?

It honestly doesn’t look that bad.

I’m sure the action scenes are fine but cmon man. He’s fighting off a killer lion in the savannah what is interesting about that? He gets mauled by this super lion 3 times in the trailer yet I’m assuming he doesn’t die during any of those attacks. How can someone survive 3 direct maulings from a normal lion much less a suped up lion?

They've already done suped up snake, alligator, crocodile, shark, gorilla, spider, fly, slug, piranha, squid, etc...

I'm sure they'll eventually get to roaches too.

Ghost and the Darkness is one of my favorite movies of all time, so I find it kind of interesting.

Shark and Dinosaur movies stay popular because there is so much of our world we have tamed and became the apex predator over. The fact that there are still undomesticatable animals that can kill us continues to get eyes on screen.

I think it looks decent. But this:

..is obviously ridiculous. I mean, he literally punches the lion in the face in the trailer. I know it's a movie, but shite...that lion would kill him in literal seconds.

I'd watch it though. Not in theaters, but on streaming eventually.

The Ghost and the Darkness was awesome, and it was about lions who were smart and attacked for pleasure.

That’s kind of my point though. I agree I might see it eventually as some mindless fun when I’m at home with a drink in my hand or something like that. The trailer seems to be pushing this as some big time action movie and Idris Elba is a pretty big star to be doing B movies like this.

It’s like they probably could have made this movie with any random actor and a tiny budget and it would’ve been the same movie. I guess they are banking on a big name and really expensive special effects and CGI to make a silly monster B plot movie a box office success.

They should lean into the silliness of it ala Snakes On A Plane

He's also doing booking.com commercials, which is odd for an a-lister.

My guess is he's been keeping his calendar open because he keeps getting told he'll be the next James Bond.

He's doing Booking.com ads. Does that answer your question?

Is he an A-Lister though? How many big movies has he been THE Star in and had to carry the movie?

Yea I guess he’s been like right on the cusp of being the next big thing for like a decade. Probably past his prime now still waiting for his turn

I think Pacific Rim was supposed to be his big break through into super stardom but that movie never quite lived up to the hype

I think you mean Luther.

He has a really good resume, I would suggest some look up his filmography.
