Ok so I finally watched this today (free on Prime), and it’s a solid watch. It’s not very good, bud entertaining enough. The acting is bad and it’s definitely one of those “what the frick are they doing that for??” types of movies. Some of the decisions are just plain stupid.
And the posts earlier in the thread about the ridiculousness of Idris Elba literally fist fighting a lion are spot on. It’s overly stupid.
But all that being said, it’s worth the watch if you’re looking to kill an hour and a half.

Easily the worst part of the movie. She was awful. But the adults made dumb decisions too far too often. But you don’t have a movie if everybody is all like “hey there’s a deranged lion out here, we should probably get to safety.”

I finally watched this as well recently. I still can't decide if I liked it or not.
As was alluded to previously in the thread, it was Jurassic Park-esque in the middle third, which was fine. It kept it intense and compelling. Like you said however, the stupidity of the characters kept happening.
It was like the writer(s) had to keep contriving dumb decisions to keep the action going, and then wrote themselves into a corner and didn't know how to end it other than having Idris Elba wrestle with the lion.
It was fun for what it was I guess, but I feel like there was a potentially better movie in there somewhere.

after having seen the movie, i think fist fighting a lion is a bit of a stretch as to what he was doing. he was simply making himself bait and trying to stay alive long enough for...

Correct. Obviously the “fistfight” comment was in jest. But that scene where he fights the lion at the end was silly with how long it went. Even knowing what was going to happen, that fight went on for like 2 minutes, when the lion would’ve immediately mauled him and gone for the jugular.
I appreciate what they were trying to do. But how many times can a human be pounced by a lion and keep getting up? It should’ve been a lot shorter to be even remotely believable. But I liked the way they set it up at least, even if it was too obviously foreshadowed.
