When Les was in the Kalahari, he showed how to distill drinking water from your own pee or tree leaves. Which would you rather try?

If it's already been proven that a number of things that Bear does are fake (including catching his own food), why would I believe they aren't drinking fake pee? The whole damn show has been compromised. You really think he caught that gator he killed? In the wild? It wasn't planted there from a gator farm? You sure?

WOW...you are so right we have no way of knowing whats real or fake on tv...thats your arguement really? im done with the thread its just dumb now...NO ONE can argue for stroud only against Grylls its kinda proves my point...bear can do things physically that stroud cant...staged, crew whatever it doesnt take away from him actually doing it.

Stroud has given me far more reliable information on energy conservation, what to eat/not eat, how to get water, and how to position yourself to be found by rescue crews.
Bear is a badass for sure, but I don't get enough from his show to say that I'd take him over Les. I would be interested to hear if Bear even really believes one should do some of the stuff he tries. Peace, have a good one.

Just to go back to Bear shows you how to survive a quote by the shows first survival expert on having his commentary cut from the show

quote:

"I think Discovery did the viewing public a serious disservice by excluding the educational narration and concentrating on travel. Someone WILL attempt river travel as shown and there will be problems. Others will run from camp because they hear noises... Someone will attempt a rappel with paracord. People are like that. Discovery holds a huge credibility advantage and that alone will act as an endorsement of the actions seen in the show. Keep in mind that a LOT of people saw the show and a few of them are ignorant enough to attempt what they saw. Disclaimers aside, the presentation looks feasible. The fact that some folks overlooked the errors just proves the point."

Yet something else Bear has also done on his show.

Bear's show actually has a hired "survival expert" to assist Bear....read the credits.

Les is his own survival expert.

Problem solved. See you in three weeks when THIS SAME EXACT ARGUMENT begins all over again in a new, shinier thread.

Ok, what's your point? Also what's the argument i forgot over the last few pages

Bear knows more, is more capable, and can plain do more than Les. I say this because of his training and what he's already accomplished.

Bear does (some) things that should not be attempted. But, usually he explains a couple of ways to go about things then demonstrates the "hardest" thing to do. Like, "you could walk around the mountain which would take a tremendous amount of time and energy or you could repel from it".

Les knows his shite too, no one is denying that. Yes his show is more "realistic" but he just tries to survive. What good does that do you if you have no intentions of finding civilization.

Who knows more: Bear

Who's show is more realistic: Les

Who's show is more entertaining: Bear

Les is his own survival expert.

You're fooling yourself if you think Bear has someone to assist him in survival. I don't buy it. Safety assistant i'm sure. That allows him to do more things on his show. Les not having one doesn't allow him to do a lot of different things. Plus he has a beacon he can press at anytime for someone to "rescue" him.

Other than part where I posted a quote by the show's SURVIVAL CONSULTANT, but no they don't have survival specialists to help bear.

You tell me if a guy trained in the United Kingdom Special Forces Reserve, with 21 Regiment Special Air Service, 21 SAS(R), as a trooper, survival instructor and Patrol Medic needs a survival expert. He served as a survival instructor, so that mean he needs one himself

How the frick is this argument still going?

Anyways, I'll add to it.

You do realize that Bear and Les both scout the area and consult with local survival experts a week before they film or enter a certain area, correct?

If you put Bear vs. Survivorman in the Thunderdome who would survive?

the show's first survival consultant, Ron Hood

Grylls also tells the cameras filming behind the scenes footage how the film crew sometimes assists him in order to film certain sequences (such as rummaging for earthworms for food along with Grylls in the Patagonia episode or when a crew member caught a salmon which Bear then ate during the Alaskan mountains episode).

Sounds like you have a hard on for Grylls. Just go freeze frame MvW and beat off to him already.
