I guess my main point was that they updated so much on the new series.why didn't they update the technology to? I mean we've built machines which are capable of rebellion but we're still dependent on renewable resources?

Come on....

WHA??????

That's crazy.

And on that note I gotta say Spock getting the girl was the most brilliant thing I've ever seen in Star Trek of any ilk.

Blasphemy.

BSG remake is one of the best - if not the best - Sci-Fi TV ever made.

Maybe you're confusing it with Caprica.

But for the OP, I don't know why they'd need tylium or gasoline when they can just use beryllium spheres.

The bullets I liked. they can build ships to withstand nukes, solve radiation poisoning, and yet haven't figured out using exploding rounds to kill a cylon after 50 years.

This might be the posts I've seen since I joined this site 5 days ago. And that's saying something because I've spent most of my time on the OT. BSG is the best sci-if TV has ever produced. Hands down. Not debatable.

I'm pretty sure the only reason that ship survived in the fist place is because it had older tech that the Cylons couldn't hack.

Welcome, glad you like BSG.

Where do you stand on The Walking Dead? To know how best to classify you on this board you must give your opinion on one the greatest issues of our time: moat or no moat?

I'm a big Walking Dead fan. I have to be honest I'm two episodes behind right now so I'm not really following the most thing. If we're talking about a moat around the prison then I say no. They need to get out of that shithole and go wreck shop over at Woodbury and take that place over. But again, the last episode I saw was the meet between Rick and the governor. I'll probably stay up late tonight and catch up since I don't have work tommorrow.

I'm talking about the more theoretical issue of the usefulness of a moat in a ZA situation. But we'll not hijack this thread any further. Catch up on TWD and be sure to bring up moats for discussion in the show thread Sunday night.

This isn't meant to bash anyone. But even if you were a fan of the original, if you can't see what an absolutely great series the BSG remake was, then you really have no need to post about it. It's generally regarded as the best scifi ever by most critics.

Its like saying, I really didn't get or like Schindler's List, cuz I'm a fan of older WWII/nazi movies.

When the entire rest of the world says it was good, and you don't think so, questioning the world may not be your smartest option. There are only so many Galileo's in world history. Your chances of being one are slim.

oh. and Frak you nugget.

And I don't know what Benedict is so pissed about. The remake took his ridiculous take on a badass and replaced it with one of the greatest and deepest characters in the history of cable television. He should feel thankful because millions of new viewers now know his name as the first, crappy male Starbuck. And by know his name, I mean, they say, Oh, you mean Face from A-Team was Starbuck?

What about a moat with a 6 foot cinderblock wall on the inside edge of it?

It would be a mess cleaning up the undead horde after you've slaughtered them, but sure.

6 foot wall might not be high enough either.

Spock got the girl several times in TOS.

"This Side of Paradise"

"Amok Time"

"All Our Yesteryears"

Among others.

How is f*cking something up, beyond recognition considered "brilliant"?

Just appeared to be unoriginal, "dark" twisting of a popular family oriented show.

Hollywood formula, rinse, repeat. I didn't watch very much of it, but it appeared to be well done. Much like my point of departure with the JJ Abrams fanboys, I can clearly understand someone with little to no experience with the original could appreciate the new products - especially for people with short attention spans, as seems the norm nowadays. What I can't fathom is true fans of the original products (Star Trek and BSG) sincerely enjoying something that is named the same as the original, but is completely different in content and tone.

You guys ever heard of "bait and switch"? Because that's what you're falling for.

so if the new BSG would've been named something different you would've liked it?
