I definitely was.

I didn't drink the Kool-Aid - sue me. I literally couldn't get into it. I couldn't get into Lost, either. That just kills you f*ckers, doesn't it?
I couldn't get into Sons of Anarchy, either, and that's a show I should definitely like. Different strokes, I guess. You guys don't allow for that, apparently, but I'm taking them anyway.

Maybe. Who knows? I just didn't like it.

My point on SOA is - you would be hard pressed to find a bigger fan of The Shield than me. I definitely should like it, but I don't.
I get the same recommendations from people about the new BSG. It's apparently just not for me. I thought Firefly was the best Sci-Fi series since Star Trek (no bloody TNG, DS9, VOY or ENT).

I grew up on the origional, and absolutely loved the remake of BSG. same as the A-team - loved the show, really liked the movie.
Star Trek was the same thing - grew up on the origionals, and watched all other shows over the years and the movies too. absolutely loved what Abrams did with the reboot of the series.
i guess my point is - its entirely possible to enjoy an origional and a remake/re-envisioning/reboot of a series or movie....if you accept both for what they are and were. if you go into a remake expecting it to be the same as the one its based off of - you are setting yourself up fir instant disapointment.

And SHOCKER it was not a remake/reboot/re-imagining of an older product - it was a NEW universe with NEW characters.

It's a horrible idea to light zombies on fire, says Max Brooks. Says God, as far as you're concerned.

The ones that don't make any sense and $hit all over the characters and spirit of what the original was all about are.
Other than those discussed, you have others you think were done well?
(ETA: Basically, I'm saying that I judge a independent product solely on its own merits. On any remake/reboot/re-imagining, if I was a fan of the original, I have to judge it based on its faithfulness to the characters and spirit of the original, otherwise, why am I watching it? Nobody who argues with me on these will concede this is a valid point.)
On the other hand, If I'm not a fan or even familiar with the source material, I judge like a new product, because, how else would I do it. This analysis makes perfect sense to me.

doesn't mean it's not a good series. How many people give up on The Wire in season 2? Does that mean its not a good show?

You know those movies are going to suck donkey b*lls - however, they will look good, by comparison, to 1-3. Lucas is a mad genius.

If they are walking around where they can get to you, yes. If they are contained within a moat it is an entirely different matter. Do you not remember when the zombies were burned in the pit on TWD? Seemed to work pretty well.

So Scarface(1983), Wizard of Oz(1939), The Fly(1986), and Casino Royale(2006) all suck?

So Scarface(1983) and Wizard of Oz(1939) both suck?
No. However, I might want to point out that I, personally, have never seen the 1932 film Scarface, nor had I seen any of the early Baum films prior to watching Wizard of Oz (1939), as, of course, we all saw as small children.
So, as I indicated before, not being a fan of the earlier works, I judged the "remakes" as independent productions.
Another example (and one which draws not nearly universal agreement, by the way) is King Kong. I have watched and enjoyed 3 different versions of this story, 1933, 1976 and 2005.
(ETA: I'm not a fan of any of the versions of The Fly, and James Bond clearly doesn't count.)
