If you like 1 of the 3, you're okay. We can talk about the others. I have serious questions about the morality of a man that can find no redeeming qualities in the above 3.

wha?

you expect them to create a nuclear reactor THAT small and put in a combat craft which will, no doubt, take heavy damage?

I can see where a person who was unaware of the original series could enjoy the remake of BG

I loved both series, but the remake was much much much better.
The remake's Adama was far more interesting, as was the entire cylon story as opposed to the original where they were just mindless bad guys.
If one wasnt familiar with "Face" being starbuck, one wouldnt have a problem with Kara Thrace. The Thrace character is fantastic and only a purist could complain.

you still need certain fuels and materials to run a reactor such as uranium and water.

so yea, it would be the same as needing the space gas called tylium.

they would just be looking for a different resource.

This. I have nothing against the original series and enjoyed it when I was a youngster. I think they had a worthy idea to bring Star Wars type of show to television. But unfortunately I also think that the technical and $$ limitation of television at that time were too much for them to overcome.

But the sicfy remake was a very good show. It bordered on great at times.

From the link...
quote:

The best minds in the world of un-imagination doubled their intake of
Double Soy Lattes as they gathered in their smoke-free offices to
curse the day this chauvinistic Viper Pilot was allowed to be. But
never under estimate the power of the un-imaginative mind when it
encounters an obstacle (character) it subconsciously loathes. "Re-
inspiration" struck. Starbuck would go the way of most men in today's
society. Starbuck would become "Stardoe".

Meh... his point is that a today's remake you would have "Han Sally" instead.

From the BSG Wiki:

quote:

Refined tylium has a tremendous enthalpy to the order of approximately half a million gigajoules per kilogram, or about 6 times greater than Uranium-235 and 81% that of deuterium fusion.

A tylium detonation results in no radioactive fallout

Seems like good enough fuel to me.

I actually don't mind the female Starbuck. In many ways it makes for a more interesting character.

I guess my main point was that they updated so much on the new series.why didn't they update the technology to? I mean we've built machines which are capable of rebellion but we're still dependent on renewable resources?

Come on....

you mean non renewable?
and you realize that nuclear reactors require a non renewable fuel source too, right? and that tyllium is more potent than uranium?

you just like to bitch without looking anything up huh

eta: also have you forgotten that everything on the galactica was old tech because it was going to be retired into a museum?
