Yes it is, and if there is a superhero that should never kill it should be Superman. It's further proof that the world and audiences have grown too cynical and odious for the character.

Yeah it's a shame such a good cast is wasted on Snyder. Man of Steel grew on me so maybe this one will too. But 39% is not promising.

I like all the casting. It all boils down to two things. David Goyer is an awful writer and Snyder, while a fantastic visionary director, is a one trick pony much like Michael Bay.

Don't know how people didn't see this coming. Man of Steel was a snooze fest. Snyder is mediocre at best although I give him Watchmen. Jessie Eisenberg is in it (nothing else needs to be said but will continue). Ironman 2 flashback, running instead of walking cramming 4 superhero introductions into one movie. Batflack...

Really hope people boycott and hit these idiots in their wallets, the only place it counts. It is now acceptable to churn out rehashed garbage because people pay to see it because of the label on it. They think, oh Batman is in it, we should set the record on that alone. Boycott it, save DC the suffering of trying to compete with the already WAY overdone Marvel who will be churning out double digit garbage films in the near future. Pay a buck to see it on redbox and make their bank account suffer.

Also, this just in, Suicide Squad will fall into this same mediocre film category.

I'm not surprised. I'm expecting a fast moving CGI fest that entertains me in the moment, but nothing more.

Jeremy Jahns:

A good time, if you're drunk.

Very mixed. Stuff he liked, stuff he hated. Thought Affleck was great as BW/Bats, didn't hate Gadot as WW, didn't like Eisenberg.

I think there will be a pretty big disconnect between the general audience and the critics.

I think the general audience will generally like it because, if nothing else, it's one giant piece of fan service. People have been waiting for this fight/team up to come to the big screen for so long. And there will be some cool fight scenes, cameos, callback to the comics, and easter eggs so fan boys will like that.

However it's clear from these initial reviews that Snyder is the problem. His style is better suited for a property like Spawn rather than Superman and The Justice League.

I honestly rather watch the awesome cartoon recreation of these graphic novels including the incredible Dark Knight Returns then watch it be butchered by Snyder.

Snyder is an idiot. That's All.

I remember when they said filming had wrapped up, like last year in January, and thinking to myself "here we go, half the movie will be CGI"

These directors AND actors need to grow a pair and start suspending people from wires and do SOME stunts. It would be more believable.

And let actors act. ZS just tanked the DCEU. Just bring inGeorge Miller.

Still can't believe that they went with Snyder to be the lead guy for. Justice League Universe.

Looks like that is really paying off at the moment.

Giving Snyder the reigns is as bad as saying, "Hey Michael Bay, you want to make super hero movies for DC?"

Never expected very much from this movie. Appears to be even worse than I thought it would be.

Batman the Animated Series, Under The Red Hood, Mask of the Phantasm, Dark Knight Returns, all awesome. Absolutely awesome. I've watched them more times than I can count.

And an rated R "Killing Joke" Holy shite am I pumped for that.

After MoS I couldn't believe they trusted Snyder with the entire DC universe, but I'm still pumped to see Affleck. And I'm pumped for Suicide Squad and I'm very interested to see where the Batman trilogy goes next.

As for Superman and the Justice League and the Superman universe, I haven't seen the movie yet and I will reserve judgement.

This should be everyone's position on this. In the grander scheme, the critics shitting on it could result in lowed box office/word of mouth and result in Snyder being jettisoned. However, it could also be a true break between critics and fans. J. Jahns review is concerning because he and I usually see eye to eye on films.

That said, I enjoyed MOS (despite its flaws) and I suspect I will enjoy BvS (despite its flaws). In the end, that is what the movegoing experience is all about.

That review is exactly what I expected to hear. Quit freaking setting up future movies and make a good damn movie.

Yep.

As much as Snyder may have fault for this, I think there was clear WB pressure.
