According to Kevin Smith, a source told him Warner Bros. is looking to reboot Batman: The Animated Series for their streaming service HBO Max.

quote:

During the new episode of the Fatman Beyond podcast, Kevin Smith said he'd heard a Batman: The Animated Series revival is in the works. The discussion began with co-host Marc Bernardin bringing up a rumor that HBO Max is looking to make a sequel to Batman: The Animated Series. Smith concurred, saying he's heard the same from "very reliable people." Smith says his source on the "BTAS reboot potential" is the one who told him about Batman: Soul of the Dragon awhile back.

They will, however, take a Batman Beyond resurgence.

Will we ever see a new major property again? What’s the next Star Wars, Batman, LOTR type franchise? So little innovation and too much rehashing on “sure things”

I remember when a reboot or a late sequel was a very rare thing and kind of a novelty. Now it’s the rule.

Theres a bunch. How bout John Wick?

If you are going to count LOTR and Batman then any Super hero flick counts. a metric shite ton of those.

Harry Potter/Hunger Games etc.

You assholes had better not frick up this gig for Conroy and Lester and Strong.

Unfortunately we’ve lost Efrem Zimbalist Jr. and Bob Hastings.

Kinda wish Kevin Smith would go back to 1998, buy a jersey from Champs, and disappear

frick this reboot. Batman: TAS is damn near perfect in every way. All this can serve to do is ruin it

Movie studios are slaves to boardroom profit machines. They’re stuck in a rut and it hasn’t effected their bottom line.

Read more books. There has been some amazing fiction written the last decade.

So if they get Dini and Bruce Timm on board, y’all really think they can’t continue a CARTOON? It’s not like it’ll be totally different actors on screen and different looks.

Animation is the easiest form to bring back. Why would you not want more from this universe?

how would it ruin the original? are they going to remove all original episodes from existence and force you to watch the new ones?

It won't.

I think a lot of folks are ignoring the fact that the Batman Animated Series had sequel series in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. The original series survived.

While I am not interested in watching a reboot, why do so many people care? How will it ruin the original? They remade Looney Tunes, Ducktales, Muppet Babies, etc. That doesn't take away from the original series. Just look at it as a new show and if you don't like it, don't watch it. People bitch about everything.
