There were a lot problems hidden by the splendor and idea of Republic City that have been brought to the surface. Amon does have some power and ability, he could have gotten his take way bending talent from a bad spirit, but who/what trained him. He is able to dodge bending attacks, and when Korra sent the fire ball into the blimp, he was the only one not effected by it.

Yeah I was surprised to see things move as quickly as they did. Still, it was a great episode.

I was hoping the showdown between Tarlok and Amon would be more epic. But, damn just how powerful is Amon?

Is it just me or is Mako very clearly a shitty character? He's in a commanding last place for my least favorite character. He just seems like the a-hole who thinks he's a good guy, when he clearly isn't. These guys usually make for good antagonists, but the show refuses to acknowledge that Mako is quite the a-hole. Just him refusing to treat both Asami and Korra with any respect at the same time. Couldn't he have toned it down a little bit and just at least acknowledge both of their presence without dogging the other?

I think they just tried to make some duplication of Zuko, but I don't think its working. Bolin is great because they take the fuel that made Sokka's humor work and go in the opposite direction with naivety and optimism, while Sokka was very intelligent, pessimistic, and sarcastic. It just seems they just removed some aspects of Zuko's personality and put them into Mako. At least Zuko feels guilty about being an a-hole later on and legitimately changed for the better into a non-a-hole, but Mako just shows no signs that he knows that he's an a-hole in many ways. If they were to go with the a-hole route, then they should have made him more like Han Solo, someone who relishes in his assholery. Maybe make him something like that waterbender they faced off with in the tournament. Yeah he was a douche, but he was a likable douche and relishes in his debauchery.

I'm not sure what Tenzin is thinking by not evacuating his wife and children. He should do it at the latest at the very start of the next episode. But the finale does look like it will be epic, and that shite is only going to get worse. I'm guessing he's going to make Tarlok his monkey and greatly abuse him in front of the masses.

Well it looks like the Fire Nation and/or Earth Kingdom send in their armies to fight Amon (about time). I'm also guessing when Amon has Korra in that situation, pretty much the next frame will have to be her going into the Avatar State. I don't see how she would have any other alternative, unless they have real balls and end the season with Korra losing her bending and seeking to get it back in some way throughout the next season.

Hmm, not sure about Amon being Yakone but it would make sense....

Also it would validate Korra seeing all the Yakone stuff with Aang. Honestly, Korra seeing all of that meant absolutely nothing. Her knowing about Yakone, even though he has a connection to Tarlok changes nothing. It doesn't affect anything she can do or how she would handle Tarlok.

OM - Yeah this just goes out to my idea that team Avatar is poorly developed outside of Bolin. Really it's just Mako and Asami.

In every single episode so far a background character has been seen pretty much following Korra, and sometimes other characters, around Republic City.

He is known as feathered hat guy on the Internet bc he wears a feathered hat.

Holy shite. That was without question the best episode in either series. Jesus Christ, just incredible. The stakes, the bending, the tenseness....... It was just fricking awesome. I just can't believe that episode and what it did. Serious balls to do all that. I'm still nerdgasming from it. Hell I'd say it is probably the greatest episode of any animated series. If the season finale can top that, it will be a hell of an achievement.
