thought it already did? Thought it costs 200 and made 215 last weekend?

Cost 250 million to make and roughly 140 million in marketing. So thats 390 million.

The theaters get roughly half of every ticket sold.

So the movie would have to make around 750-800 million to break even.

That's assuming Disney is telling the truth about production and marketing costs. As with streaming, most of those posted #'s are guestimates, at best.

Ultimately it's not revenue that's ultimately hurting Disney, but rather costs.

No shite. That's the same for every operating business in the world.

Their revenues are still high (they made 82.7 billion in 2022).

Don't mean shite if their expenses are just as high. It still amazes me that certain posters keeps throwing out revenue numbers like it's some big "see, they are doing well" yet they fail to post expenses. Revenue does not equal profit. Posting record revenue means nothing without posting record expenses!

Ah yes the dude with videos say boycott Disney and boycott Chick-fil-A is definitely the unbiased source you should listen to.

Yes, the actual attorney who practiced bond law in Florida and worked with Universal on these things, making him a subject-matter expert on the RCID-Disney case, is definitely who we should listen to. So far, every prediction he's made on the case has happened.

By all means, you listen to whatever moron you think knows more about this.

It needs to make at least $750 mil to break even. Globally. It will most likely top out around $350 mil domestic and hope to have at least $400 mil internationally. With sales in China very slow it lwill be hard to achieve.

This movie should have turned a huge profit but Disney must make bad decisions with their IPs

There are formulas out there for what a film grosses in its first week or two to what it will get at the end of its run.

Films are so front-loaded with screens these days that most of the gross will come in within the first four weeks of release.

Which is why I have doubts it hits 350 mil domestically. It sits at $187 mil domestically after 2 weeks and hit $41 mil last weekend. I don't think it gets to 350 mil domestic but it did have a strong international weekend in week 2.

eta: Guardians 3 is at $323 domestic for its run and it had a stronger opening and smaller drop in the second week.
