James Purefoy for Mance. He would be $$$$$.
Would be awesome. Been saying he needs to be in this show for awhile.

Did anyone make it through SoS without doing this?

I think they do the Red & Joffrey's wedding in the same or consecutive episodes. I don't see anyway how they let Joffrey live after pissing off everyone with the RW.
Doubt it. They need to let the Red Wedding settle a bit before Joffrey's poisoning. Plus I think that sort of like Blackwater, the Red Wedding and Joffrey's Wedding will each be their own single episode without any other storylines penetrating it.

I came on here bitching about the same thing. Still haven't started Feast yet but the Red Viper death pissed me off the most in SOS. I was really pissed at the way it went down. One of the most badass characters in the books and he was only in a few chapters. Loved how he rolled up and was Tyrions equal in wit.
Agreed on all counts. His death was more upsetting than Ned's or Robb's by a long shot.

I actually didn't flip to check, but that was only because I knew it was one of Martin's fake outs, just like Yoren cutting her hair in book 1.
For all Martin's ability to kill anyone, he hasn't killed anyone major offscreen like that as of yet.

I honestly don't remember if I did this or not...but I had the same reaction as most people. If I wasn't reading it on my kindle, I would have flung it across the room after the Red Wedding.
Just started my re-read on it....3% in.

I did. It's the way he words it "the axe took her in the back of the head", something like that, in combination with knowing that a bunch of shite goes down in the book that made everyone pissed. I thought killing her was one of the things he did to make everyone mad.

Not you, brah, you just told me that it was a wedding. Somebody had spoiled Robb and Cat dying prior. No worries

I still have a hard time fathoming why someone would quote my post to tell me to delete it because it was a spoiler
and I legitimately thought your post said that you had just finished SOS. Thats what I get for not paying attention I guess.... anyway sorry again

I did. Too much of a pain to flip through on a Kindle. I somehow knew she wasn't dead though. The Hound was fond of her.

I know, I think that guy did it purposefully.

No problem at all dude. I knew they died from someone else, and I had suspected the wedding because of all of Cat's warnings about disrespecting the Freys. You just gave me the confirmation. I'm not mad at you at all. I like you

RW was semi-spoiled by me not being able to stay out of spoiler threads. I knew someone "good" died, and all the hints leading up to that event pointed to Robb. Didn't want to believe it, still wanted to throw the book, but it was partially spoiled.
Arya part was like:
"Nah no way she's dead, not like that, why would it be that way?"
*read 3 words*
"She better not be fricking dead...no way, not Arya..."
*read 3 more words of the next chapter*
"He didn't right? Let me check..."
And then I flipped until I saw another Arya chapter.

Did anyone else start to laugh uncontrollably as Pycelle began telling us of the Mountain's injuries?

Just finishes SOS. I predicted Robb's death as soon as he became an active character. He was generally "offscreen" for the first two books, but as soon as he became a major character with major scenes, I was positive he would die. That's how Martin rolls.
I've actually been pissed by how well the Lannisters had been doing not because they are "evil", but because they are largely incompetent. No one gets this far on mere good fortune. And it has been almost entirely good fortune.

Tywin Lannister was far from incompetent.

This. His FATHER was incompetent. His DAUGHTER is incompetent. His GRANDCHILDREN are/were incompetent. But his SONS are pretty well built (it's funny because one is a dwarf). If Tyrion and Jaime put their minds to it (and Jaime hadn't gotten his hand hacked off), they could probably control the realm fairly easily.
