I would give Stallone the #1 film with Rocky, which won the Academy Award for best film.

But overall collection, man that's close.

Rocky, Rambo, Copland.
Terminator, Predator, Total Recall.

Stallone has the "better" resume.

Arnold has the more "successful"

Arnold had the better first half. Stallone had the better second half. I think Stallone takes it overall since Arnold hasn't done much since he came back from bein governor.

I would give it to T2 or True Lies.

Had this conversation many times. If it's strictly film then I give the edge to Stallone.

Only one of them was Conan the Barbarian.

It's Stallone, especially if you count his writing and directing and acting credits.

Without using a web search, how did Terminator 2 rank, box office wise, vs any of Stallone’s films?

T2 outgrossed every Stallone film by at least $100 million unless you count Guardians of the Galaxy 2 which Sly had roughly 2 minutes of screen time.

More interesting discussion:

Which one speaks the more easily comprehensible English?

Is that adjusted for inflation ?

It's difficult to believe that it outperformed Rocky by $100 million if you are accounting/adjusting for inflation.

Came here to say Stallone but its probably Arnold after going through the filmography.

Forget Terminator/Rocky franchises cancelling each other.

True Lies
Predator
Total Recall
Kindergarten Cop

Commando
Conan
Eraser

Raw Deal
Last Action Hero
Twins

Adjusted for inflation Rocky outperformed T2 by over $70 million.
That's comparing USA/Canada revenue.
No worldwide revenue showing for Rocky, not sure if worldwide numbers were tracked in 1976.

You can't say Terminator and Rocky cancel each other out. Terminator has 2 great movies, one ok one, and a bunch of absolute garbage. All of the Rocky movies are fairly solid. The first two Creed movies are just as good as the best Rocky movies.

Early on it would definitely be Arnold, in 2023 I’ll give the nod to Stallone.

Agree to disagree.

Sure Terminator has crap...and while Rocky is "the best picture" that is very true in both of their filmographies...T1/T2 make up for some mediocre Rocky movies..by being insanely good. So imo, you can call it a wash with their two biggest franchises.

And the biggest reason you can’t say they cancel each other out is one is about a person, and the other is a killer robot.

Rocky is a great film. The Terminator is a great scifi action film.

While I hold True Lies, T2 and Commando in high regard, and think that Arnold should get props for his comedic chops in Twins and Kindergarten Cop, I think Stallone still gets the nod, especially if you consider First Blood.

I’ll also throw in the movie “Oscar” for Stallone which I think is an underrated classic.

It was Arnold primarily due to the fact that Stallone likes to have creative control over his projects. You look at the filmmakers Sly has worked with and it's severely lacking compared to Arnie who worked with Cameron, Verhoeven, and McTiernan. None of those guys or any other top director for that matter would have put up with Stallone's meddling and that prevented Stallone from having a much career than he should have had.

Predator and the first two Terminators are 3 of my most watched movies.
