I loved the first season of HofHH. I liked the second too just not as much as the first. Will definately have to check this out.

Finished it last night. I didn’t hate the last 2 episodes like others seem to. It was a fun show.

Decided to listen to the podcast at work today only to discover I listened to the first season 3 years ago

I wondered how it had slipped by me. I guess it didn’t.

Another Netflix attempt that had potential and ultimately went off the rails by the end.

Spoiler:

Same ole same ole

Main character is the key who was lured to be the integral piece of some elaborate ceremony to open a gate to another world

It’s the same plot as the last 100 scary thrillers

The show is also not as scary as it should be. It has a perfect setup. Isolated in a weird house, being watched, underground demon cult, mysterious family history and does nothing with it.

It’s really not scary or creepy at all if anything it goes in the direction of Dark (the tv show).

I enjoyed the first episode BC I thought we would get weird/creepy vibes but by the end of the season it was really a chore to get through. It was 2-3 episodes too long. The main girl character was incredibly annoying.

I really enjoyed it until the end which definitely felt rushed. I do think it was several episodes too long. They honestly could have done without the flashback episode.

I thought the main actor mahmoudou athie did a really good job. He will be in more stuff, and I won’t be mad about that.

The girl that played melody (not worth looking up her name) was really bad though.

Overall I’d give the first season 8/10 after finishing it, I enjoyed. Have a bad feeling season 2 will fall off the rails.

SPOILER (kind of)...

In a 100 minute horror film, you ask yourself multiple times, why doesn't the person just get up and leave this untenable environment - it is going to go sideways and it is plainly obvious.

Over the course of 8 hours, it just becomes down right exhausting asking it to yourself over and over. So exhausting when neither character just walks away at various points to the point you just become indifferent to the main characters and don't really care any more what happens to them.

I give it a 4 out of 10.

Spoiler: Was anyone else confused about where Samuel was at the end? It looked like he was in the portal with Melody so he should’ve been able to escape too, right? Or was he so loyal that he stayed with Khaelego?

Did anyone finish it? I thought it started very strong and then went in a bad direction.

This. Was digging it, and then it just flopped for me.

Last few episodes felt like they stepped back and said "hey this isn't bad... maybe we can get a Season 2 out of this!?", and then changed a bunch of shite to try and create a cliffhanger.... and ruined it

I thought the show actually got better as it went on. It was a slog from the second to sixth or so episode, then amped up before ending the season.

Just say "frick" a lot to show your different range of emotions!

My wife and I lol’d when Dan leaves the office building and starts screaming “frick! FUUUUUUUUCK!!” in public and all the people around him don’t even turn their heads. Such an odd reaction to have, he is a terrible actor and Melody was too. The final few episodes she was in a constant state of crying. Always sniffling and barely getting her thoughts out through the tears, this was exhausting.

Apparently the director also thinks banging on someone’s door and yelling for them to come out is the most dramatic thing you can do. There were about a dozen scenes of Melody banging on someone’s door and yelling. “JESS! SAMUEL! ANNABELL!” over and over again.

This is one of the worst shows I’ve ever seen. By the end we were about to google what happened but we went ahead and suffered the last hour.

Boy did this show go off the rails. And it wasn’t gradual. One second it’s a creepy mystery unraveling through restoring old films and the next it’s just completely stupid nonsense. This feels like a show that was greenlit based on a very succinct idea and then they were like “well frick, now we have to finish this story?”

Agree 1000%
The last episode was a sloppy mess.

I didnt think the show was bad... it was a slow burn entertainment. I do agree Melody was fricking annoying and i agree with this reguarding her situation.

but with Dan, his situation was just creepy and not really "life threatening" from what he knows.

I have a feeling the whole Samuel thing is he came out in the time same time period as Dan and not Melody. Season 2 will be Dan saving his family and stopping Samuel again.

Was one of those shows that I liked up until the end and the payoff was disappointing

Was a great concept and I liked the slow burn but the end was very rushed. And like other have said the characters, particularly Melody just made kind boggling decisions that no realm person would ever make and it really took some of the suspense out of the show.

I don’t consider it a waste of time, but I’m also not that interested in a season 2.
