I watched as a young boy. Maybe 1st grade watching Creature from the Black Lagoon and ramping up to Child's Play, Friday the 13th, Nightmare, Critters, etc.

I loved them right away. How young is too young?

I mean there's always something like Monster Squad to bridge the gap. Flowers in the Attic too. You could watch those at 8-9.

Friday the 13th and Nightmare 14+, probably older
Critters is probably 12+

I was watching Freddy and Jason at about 6 or 7 years old. Always thought Freddy was hilarious. They both had kids' toys back then.

Whenever they don't get nightmares. All kids are different. My daughter is 15 and still doesn't watch them. My best friend's kids all started watching around 7ish.

You're never too young for Ernest Scared Stupid
Although this scene may have warped me just a little bit

Start with the Goosebumps series or the Haunting hour on Netflix and then you can decide what they are ready for after that. I have a 5 year old that loves it.

I wouldn't do movies like ChildsPlay or Friday the 13th until they are a lot older, not because it is scary, but because of the sex/violence/ect.

If they love horror and are not afraid, there are plenty of scary movies like The Ring that don't have all of the aforementioned.

It's more about their maturity level.

Flowers in the Attic is kind of creepy for kids if you think about it.

My aunt babysat me and put on "Dolls" for me when I was three. I was afraid of Dolls into my early teens. Horror is my my fave genre now, though.

Any age. Monstervision was the shite when I was a kid.

Start 'em with the hokey stuff.

Night of the Lepus, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Critters, Maximum Overdrive, Silver Bullet, The Entity, Jaws, Orca...

Ok, my Dad had no filter, I turned out all right.

frick sharks though.
