Channing Tatum participated in that, too. That makes him gay, as well?

This thread escalated quickly. I did not see that coming.

I don't understand why this is a discussion. Had he got up there and sang a song about how he saw Kerry Washington, Jamie Foxx, or any other black actor depicted a a slave the whole friggin' country would be in uproar, and rightfully so.
The simple fact is that there still exists a marked disparity between the treatment and compensation of men and women in the country. As such, it shouldn't be a shock that his song that basically takes actresses careers and instead of highlighting their moments of achievement highlights the moments that they showed "the goods" could be seen as a form of objectification. I don't think that was his or the academy's intention, but I do think it was poorly thought out.
This isn't a product of some bull**** PC society, it's a product of using living in an unequal society.
Tits or GTFO

To be fair he did make a joke about selling Jamie Fox as a slave.
If you're going to show your breasts, or do anything else for that matter, in a movie I think you open yourself up to critique and satire.
He's a comedian, it's what he does. He isn't supposed to be PC and if the Academy and ABC are ok with it, then so be it.
Everyone has a remote, they can use it.

See, I want to agree with this, and in theory I do, but in practice I can't. And realistically, you don't either. You'll fully concede that not all jokes are equal if you're really pushed. If you go to a job interview and the person interviewing you is black and they jokingly refer to you as a slave-trader the whole time, you're gonna have a problem with that. I use that as one specific example, maybe it doesn't apply to you, but we can come up with plenty others that are applicable. The point I'm trying to make is that in certain settings certain humor is inappropriate. I'm not trying to construe Seth MacFarlane as some sort of woman-hating sexist, I'm just suggesting that his routine was poorly thought out for that particular venue.
TL;DR there are differing lines for what is socially acceptable in every environment; in this case SM found himself on the wrong side of that line. He didn't firebomb Dresden, he made a bad joke. Life goes on.

if you cant make inapriopriate jokes at the oscars, I dont know where you can
Its a fricking awards show for hollywood to pat itself on the back all for the sake of entertainment. Its not exactly the nobel prize ceremony

See, this is where we part ways. We fall on opposite sides on this issue, but I see where you're coming from. For me, I'd say a pseudo-formal gathering like the Oscars suggest a certain degree of propriety that was lacking in Seth's hosting. Just because the people present/being honored are entertainers does not mean that they are unworthy of respect. But I feel like you'd say it's not disrespect just humor.
No judgment, just different departure points

Honestly, anybody that ever watched Family Guy should have seen this one coming. He dumps on women non-stop in that show.
His vocals were pretty good btw. Impressed.

I'm missing the direct connection you draw between making a tits joke and a slave joke.
Couldn't you have replaced the word tits with dick and then flashed to robert deniro, ewan mcgregor, jamie fox etc? If he had done that it wouldn't have been anti-male IMO so I'm not sure why joking about tits is anti-female

Well, he made a slavery joke and... no uproar. So your theory is incorrect.
The Boobs song was funny, and I'll let a lot of things slide if they are funny. But also, the central joke is that these self-important "serious" actresses have all shown their boobs. It's a silly song puncturing pomposity. It's not an attack on feminism.
Hell, his more questionable jokes were the standard gay panic jokes and the borderline anti-Semitic "Hollywood is run by a cabal of Jews" jokes. Those jokes were a lot more offensive, mainly because they weren't funny. (NOTE: I don't think he crossed the line here either, but he was closer to it, mainly because the jokes were hacky and lame).
I don't like Seth Macfarland at all, but I thought he was fine as a host and this is just people getting all indignant because that's what cultural commentators do.
ETA: there, of course, is already a "I Saw Your Dong" parody video on the internet. Is that anti-man?

Know who hates women more than MacFarlane? The snotty bitches who write "worst dressed" lists. Why does nobody hate them?

Man, this thread is chock full of homophobes.
A guy voices one character out of 200 that has a repressed gay side, HE MUST BE GAY, LOL.
Oh he does showtunes on his television show? Surely that couldn't be because he's producing a show to get higher ratings and will do whatever he can think of to make it funny?

Not saying I don't agree with your premise (because I do), but FWIW, Seth recorded an album where he sings Sinatra-esque songs and toured it. So I think the songs in Family Guy are more because he likes them than for ratings.
But, yeah, I don't think he's gay
