Anyone else watch Ancient Aliens not because they believe it

I watch Ancient Aliens mostly to put me to sleep. At first, I thought maybe they were on to something, but they just keep reusing the same ingredients over and over - like a Mexican restaurant.
Now, I just watch it because of the ancient archelogy they find on the show. Just because something cool was built a long long time ago doesn't mean it was done by aliens, but the structures and the buildings are interesting.
Also that guy with the bushy hair is hilarious.

Until someone can show that people can move 500 ton boulders over 100s of miles without cranes, I'm gonna keep an open mind to the show.

Me, and for the exact same reason. I think it's why it's such a popular stoner show.
I do believe that maybe there are lost civilizations that greatly predate what we know of, and that there are suggestions that they were global in scope. Gobekli Tepe is proof that monuments were made that long ago. I just think it's kind of insulting that some believe it could only have been done with alien assistance.
The "ancient aliens debunked" video is a good reference for debunking some of the show's outright bullshite, and Von Daniken's book was pretty much plagiarized from an earlier French book, which itself took a lot of elements fro the works of H.P. Lovecraft.
You're right about reworking the old material. I guess they know they can keep cranking it out and people will watch. They kept doing it last season, even after it should have ended. The previous season had 15 episodes. Last season had 22, the last few of which looked like 100% old footage.
ETA: all that said, I still went to AlienCon in Dallas last October. I met David "you have to ask yourself" Childress, but not "George."

Bingo. I just let it play in the background while I'm laying in bed at night. Something about those History Channel narrators voices are all so soothing for some reason
History's Mysteries is still the GOAT History Channel show though.

I've been watching Curse of Oak Island, not because I expect they will solve any "mystery" or find any vast treasure, but I find it pretty entertaining. I suspect that watching Ancient Aliens is pretty much the same; you don't have to believe in what they are selling to enjoy it.

I watch Ancient Aliens because sadly it's the closest thing to a show about history that still plays on the History Channel

The show really contradicts itself when they talk about how smart the ancient people were and were able to communicate what they were seeing. Then they come back and act like the same people couldn't figure out how to build or make things.

The ruins they visit/show and learning where they are located is enough to keep my attention. I read Chariots of the Gods way back in high school and thought it was interesting then. A lot of the show is interesting, but it’s also hilarious when they take on a subject none of them obviously believe in, like Bigfoot, and do their best to make an ancient astronaut connection.

They had cranes. ANCIENT cranes.

It’s definitely on my list, here’s my top three:
1. Planet Earth
2. How the Universe Works
3. Ancient Aliens

I’m pretty sure the narrator on her is the same as curse of oak island.
It’s almost hypnotic.

He was also the voice of Fury's car in Winter Soldier.

I love the way he says "extraterrestrial" and "otherworldly."
I also love how the intro changed from "what if......it were true" to "there is a doorway, through it are the aliens, they're here, they're queer...." with such intense certainty.

How It's Made is extremely soothing.

I watch it because of the ancillary information provided during the course of an episode.
Even if you're not a believer in alien interference in our development, there's enough filler info supplied to make the show worth watching.
