Was hanging out with my wife’s family a few weeks ago, and they talked about a group that has gathered over the past 15 or so years to re-trace the road trip from Fandango.

They have made the road trip 10 times and met several cast members.

Anybody Fandango fans?

Haha, just watched movie after hearing them talk about their road trips. It sounds really fun. They said people come from other countries to meet and then all make the toad trip to try and identify key locations from the movie.

I am in!

At least once a week I tell my wife to "gimme three chili dogs & a malt."

I love that movie. "You gotta be cool, dude. Do that in the real thing, and you'll bounce."

Truman is such a great character.

“They’re from New Jersey. They’ve seen butts before.”

That film always gets me in the feels. For a lot of reasons.

Just a great movie from start to finish.

The site ultimatefandango.com has some good info. Apparently they have organized a trip for the last 13 years to go locate where key scenes were filmed.

Chuck Bush who played Dorman is active on the site. Chuck was hired for the role because of his size. He was spotted in a 7 11 in Austin and they asked hm if he wanted to be in a movie!!

Always thought Costner used his Fandango character some as Jake in Silverado. Maybe it's just the way he was in 1984-1985. Fandango came out that January, and Silverado came out that July. That's the Kevin Costner I wanted in every movie after that.

Too bad he had to grow up. Glad they at least let him get back a little into that character in Bull Durham and Tin Cup

That site is amazing. I remember the movie had a bit of a cult following, but didn't know it was that devoted.

I think my buddies and I grabbed it by chance one time at Blockbuster because the title caught my attention (reminded of the ZZ Top album). We had a few road trips around TX with different people, but never did the big group roadtrip like in the movie. And I've still never been to Big Bend :(

You are not alone. Probably why it sticks with people more than the usual buddy movie.
