If you look at the list of movies coming out in 2025 you will see blockbusters like: Captain America: Brave New World; Superman; Mission Impossible 8; Karate Kid Legends...etc...

What I'm waiting for is the release of The Long Walk. I've been waiting for them to make this book into a movie that does it justice for over 40 years now. They keep pushing back the release date projections, and the latest I have seen is Mid-Summer 2025. I hope they can do this Stephen King masterpiece justice. Has anyone heard any buzz about it? It seems like it is sort of on the down-low.

4 decades later and I still love the freaking Bachman Books!

I loved the book and actually listened to it on audiobook this year after reading it many times.

Not sure if it will translate well but hoping for the best.

It might be my favorite book.

I think it’s the perfect representation of teenage boy mindset.

Piss and vinegar with no regard for consequences or the severity of situations.

I wouldn't mind a Running Man that is faithful to the book, even though i kind of liked the campy Arnold version.

Same...as I remember when I read it...Ben Richards was in his late 20s, and weighed about 180 pounds. He was not the physically intimidating character that was in the movie. Which made him even more of an underdog.

I wasn't familiar with this character. My interest in reading has gone up tremendously over the past couple years. While I have a list that I would like to read before they go to movie production/release do I need to read all the Bachman books before this one in order for it to make sense? Or does it matter?

They're all standalone, no continuous story-thread.

You're in luck. Think that's in production right now with Edgar Wright directing, starring Glen Powell.

Yes, and he is in the general public with most people taking pleasure in helping to track him down w/ a small amount of people helping. Has some real life similarities to the Luigi UnitedHealthCare manhunt.

Me too! One of my favorites, that I just couldn't wait to see when they made the movie, was "The Running Man". If you read the book, you know just how screwed up that movie was. A complete joke and barely resembled the book. Hopefully, they do The Long Walk justice like they did with The Green Mile. That one was spot on.

The Bachman books are great, some of my favorites in the canon.

Not gonna lie that was pretty cool.

I read Bachman books decades ago and the main thing I remember from long walk is I think the main character was named Garranty and he picked the right shoes.

been years but in a dystopian future (cue movie guy voice) where hopelessness rules a contest exists where healthy young men can compete to see who can walk the furthest...to win a comfortable life.. But the consequences of coming in second are deadly..

The walkers can’t stop walking. No breaks. No sleeping. They have to keep up a pace set by the organizers. If they fall too far behind, they get two warnings, then they get their Ticket (not hard to figure out what that is). If they have to piss or shite, they have to run up way ahead of the pack so they can finish their business before the pack catches up. If they fall and injure themselves, tough shite. Keep up or get your Ticket.

But whoever wins gets The Prize. It’s worth dying for.
