I know Eurotrip gets effusive praise on this board (rightly so), but as far as movies that were everywhere for a hot minute then disappeared from public consciousness, I present another offering:

Justin Long before he got played out, Anna Faris before she went crazy, Ryan Reynolds at peak Van Wilder levels. I swear everyone I knew at the time (all in our early 20s, many at shitty dead end jobs) saw this and referenced it all the time. Then it just kinda...disappeared.

I thought it was just ok, but I never worked in a restaurant. Some of my friends who had thought it was great.

One of the best comedies of the 2000's, more so do to the fact that it absolutely nails the restaurant culture. It is required viewing for anyone who has, or currently works in, the service industry.

Filmed mostly at the Bennigans on Vets past Power in the Metry/Kennera area if I remember correctly.

Was one of my favorite "under the radar" comedies in high school/college. It's one of those movies you can put on while babysitting a hangover from the night before. Just sit back and have a few good chuckles before rallying up again for another night of debauchery.

Never made the transition from slightly dopey teen/20s lead to leading man or established supporting actor.

Waiting...
Dodgeball
Accepted
Live Free or Die Hard
Jeepers Creepers

Then he peaked going off type in Zac and Miri Make a Porno (another entry in tGOAT 00s comedy discussion).

After that he was too old to play the young lead and lacked the range to be a starring actor.

Might be one of the most accurate “day in the life” type films ever made

I managed "family dining" restaurants and watching this movie makes me uncomfortable. Too real.

It's a Verizon Wireless now. When I worked for Verizon we had training there and they would make a point to always remind you that Waiting was filmed there.

Waiting is very good, but I don’t consider it ‘overlooked’. Everyone I know has seen it and it is on tv all the time.

Waiting 2 wasn’t terrible either, especially the Sour Cream Sanchez scene.
