I found out Evans makes by far the least amount of money of all the avengers too.

Garfield does seem like he would be like that.

I could, but I wouldn't because I'm not a flaming douchebag.

Producers reportedly paid for Miles to go to Disneyland instead, and brought in Captain America star Chris Evans to present in Garfield's place.

"He got the call pretty much the day of that he'd have to go on," a source told Us Weekly of Evans. "Chris hadn't been planning on even going to the Oscars."

Good for Evans. Garfield can go frick himself. This reminds me of when Ina Garten refused the Make a Wish kid. What a bunch of assholes.

I didn't. He came across as too emo for me to be playing Peter Parker. Petey was a nerd, not a wannabe-Twilighter.

Despite the Terminator incident, I think Bale is for te most part pretty nice to his fans.

Doesn't mean he wanted to get on stage at the Oscars.

Personally, I'd have gotten Adam West.

They should have had the kid present with someone else and then have the lights flicker or something followed by this guy's voice:

with these words:
"Miles... This is Batman...
YOU ARE VENGEANCE! YOU ARE THE NIGHT! YOU ARE BATKID!!!!"

Or they could have just had Christian Bale get his lazy arse up from the crowd and growl at him until he got hoarse... Either way, they should have figured out some accommodation for the kid. ETA - If that had happened you would hope Bale wouldn't start yelling at him if he messed up a line to "BE A DAMN PROFESSIONAL AND GET IT RIGHT!!!"

If it were my child that was dying, I know I would do everything I could to put a smile on his face as much as possible before that time came.

Why couldn't the kid have done it with Evans?? Sounds funny.

Thousands of children are suffering and dying of cancer and other diseases every day, in this country alone.

This kid had a major city shut down, and 100s of thousands of dollars spent on his wish. It's enough already, ffs.

his agent needs to jump all over this story with quickness.

perhaps Disney/Marvel leaked it to turn the public against him in an effort to hurt Spiderman 2. If it does mediocre business and Sony keeps hemorrhaging money they might have to sell the rights back.

I see your point. On one hand, I can see that a lot has been done for BatKid. Add to that the fact that they Hollywood buttholes love to posture, so they were probably exploiting this kid more than helping out of some sense of altruism.

On the other hand, he's five years old and dying. Let the kid be a superhero. Throw out all the stops. Put a smile on his face. Give him experiences that will change his young life.

If the story is true, this explains why Garfield played the insecure, twinkish Peter Parker so well and why Evans owns the confident Captain America role.

IMO, both points are irrelevant in this particular instance (as is my statement about if my child were in this boat). I think the big thing was that a dying kid was told this was happening and looking forward to being a part of something really cool and he (apparently) didn't get to do that because of some prima donna actor who was worried about his image and how saying certain lines might come off... (Once again, apparently or allegedly)
