Speaking of sex, we're pretty sure Dedre is pegging Syril, right?

actual sexual situation of an imperial slimebag telling a woman she's going to need to have sex with him in order for him not to report her, then when he doesn't like her answer, he physically tries to rape her and we watch this play out?
I don't see the problem with tying The Empire more closely to the Nazis, Commies, etc. It's why people are willing to kill and die to resist and rebel

I keep seeing discussions on message boards and YouTube about whether or not this belongs in Star Wars. I find the conversation weird. Almost performative at times.
First off, most ideas of what “belongs” in Star Wars are kinda dumb and limiting. And that’s not the same thing as saying certain force powers or light speed kamikaze don’t belong. Those are instances of breaking the rules already established like a video game cheat code.
Second, I don’t understand why people are acting so offended. This isn’t a kids show. And if you tried to get your 5 year old to watch it, I’m sure he’d be checked out after the first 5 minutes of dinner with Jewish mom.
It’s a slow burn show for the audience who were kids in the 80s and are now older. It’s not a hard concept to figure out.

It seems the words are upsetting you more than the visuals. Also, it was implied she had to have sex with him for him not to report her. He didn't say it outright.
The visuals of the situation Leia was in was 10x worse than the visual we saw in Andor (no clothes removed, the extent of "sexual touching" involved him holding briefly her hand and touching her face). Hell, he never even went to undo his pants or anything like that showing he was about to rape her. 95% of that scene was simply a fight between a man and a woman.
I just really don't understand why this is the line some people are drawing that is "too much" for Star Wars. Especially given this show is much darker than most anything else Star Wars has ever been and obviously not intended for 8 year olds.

Pretty sure he just latching on to the newest thing to be outraged over unless this is his twitter

All these gatekeepers about what does and doesn’t belong in Star Wars are hilarious. I guess all the various ways they show people getting maimed and murdered is no biggie.

I mean the undocumented stuff was extremely on the nose not sure how anyone could argue that one. The rape scene was also trite but that’s mostly because the guy playing the imperial commander sucked. Love the shoutout to KOTOR and the infinite empire

Was he just trying to frame his boss as helping the storm troopers so they didn't suspect the boss as a rebel? I couldn't quite get it, but that's what I took away.
Exactly this

I don’t have a Twitter, or a facebook, nor do I get my opinions from SEKs YouTube guys.
I’m not outraged over it. I simply thought it was pointless, stupid, and doesn’t fit into the Star Wars I enjoy. If you liked it, good for you.

That’s fair, everyone has their own reasons why they like something
Imo, I think the “point” of that was to build up her animosity toward the empire even more. If you think about what they have done to her and tried to do to her, I’m thinking she has a huge role before this thing is over with. It’s giving her even more reason to pull off something big against them.

Everyone already knows they are bad. We’ve seen them torture people, murder people, and blow up an entire planet to get what they want. Sex is not something they have ever come close to using for any reason.
Had that woman had a younger brother that they threatened to murder, and then went through with the murder, that would be expected. No one would think any different to that happening, despite it being “dark”.
Trying to coerce a woman to have sex for something insignificant, then trying to rape her is not something I expect. Hell I’d bet if Darth Vader knew he was doing that he’d choke force him to death.

He murdered innocent children….
And the point I was making was that this adds to what they have done to her specifically. Not a friend or family member. Pretty much everyone has reason to hate the empire for what they do to the population as a whole. She has gone through much more than the average person though at the hands of the empire.

I know.
They also didn’t actually show him do that.
But as weird as it seems, you expect murder from the empire. Rape is a different level. And yes I know how stupid that sounds. But it just doesn’t fit in Star Wars to me where as murdering children does. Again, I know how dumb that sounds.

Idk, I guess my expectations are different for a Star Wars movie that’s expected to be for all audiences vs Andor which I think we all agree is a more “mature” type of show.
They obviously meant for that scene to be powerful, which, given the feedback it has generated, it was.

What about Andor is more mature than Revenge of the Sith?
I didn’t think the scene was powerful at all. It felt out of place and had no point. Again, as stupid as it sounds, it would have been more powerful had they held a loved one hostage and murdered them. We saw that in Rogue One which helped set up Director Krennic as a great bad guy and gave Jyn the motive she needed to succeed.
This little empire rapist is insignificant. His motive was pointless in the grand scheme of things, and we likely won’t see him again in any significant time, unless of course we see a girl power revenge against him, which I 100% expect to see now.

It’s not about the rapist or the doctor who tortured her. It’s about what she herself has been put through. The trauma of that psychological torture that’s still messing with her, then a different member of the empire tries to rape her. She’s going to be a nutcase after all that. It’s probably going to lead to her making some grand kamikaze move to help the cause or to help save someone else.
I get that you didn’t like it being in there, but it clearly has a point to it.

Not to interrupt the rape food fight, but can someone tell me who the younger guy was that was talking to Luthen at the party whose parents were mixed race and exiled (I believe)? As they were talking drunk Tay almost bowls him over as he walks past him and I was wondering if it were on purpose or just to show how sloppy Tay had gotten.
I confess I was struggling to stay awake after a long day and have not had a chance to rewatch.
