They had great one liners like Anchorman I did. Overall it was really funny. I agree with the people saying the second half became too over-the-top. The entire fight scene was way too stupid. Putting that aside though, the dinner scene was hysterical. I loved the shadow joke, but I think some people got lost with it. Definitely going to see it more times

Thought it was funny but obviously there were a lot of misses. The shark scene was so stupid

I like it more than the first, but that may be because it was blatantly racist and simply didn't care. It was good though it was everything it set out to be.

It took a few viewings for me to like the first one and it took 1000s of animated gifs and memes for the true greatness of the first one to shine.

Same here. Was never as hilarious as Old School or Stepbrothers but great in its own way

I thought the first one was hysterical from the first scene. It was right on the money with its goal. I felt this one tried way too hard.

I agree with this. It just started getting too weird at the end with the whole fight scene to. I'll watch it again later and hopefully enjoy it more.

Favorite scene was the secret condom stash

The first about 70 minutes of that movie is a riot. It's as funny as theffirst one and him getting everyone back together was worth seeing the movie. Especially for the phrase Chicken of the cave.

The last part of the movie when he moves to the lighthouse was obnoxiously stupid but it had its moments. The fight scene was ridiculous and the build up was ok.

The first 70 minutes of the movie are awesome though. Maybe better than the first. I'll make a decision after rewatch.

It had no story really

That's an idiotic statement. It had more of a plot than the first one did and all the digs at the main stream media and how the news changed from news to the bullshiton 24hr news nnetworks was hilarious.

Not a repeat of the first one either, other than one scene and a few returning characters.

Thought the same thing. I enjoyed it.

I'll reserve judgement until it comes out on DVD, because the 1st one did grow on you, BUT, it initially seems like an inferior film in so many ways. I thought it was a decent enough sequel in that it was entertaining and they weren't really recycling the same old jokes, and then the last 20 minutes was nothing but stupid cameos and recycling of the original. Definitely a disappointment and if you're still on the fence about going or waiting for the DVD, I'd wait for the DVD.

Agreed, there was a good bit of satire in there had me laughing.

Some of you are saying the fight scene was too ridiculous. Think ya'll are missing on this one... That's 100% the point. The fight scene in the first one was hilarious and they tried to build on it. Yeah, it was completely unrealistic and over the top, but it's Anchorman, it's supposed to be. I enjoyed all the cameos and crazy weapons. One gripe with that scene is they seemed to rely too much on the cameos themselves, instead of giving them better one-liners

And it's a stupid point to try and make again when they made it so well the first time. It was mostly just stupid cameos for the sake of cameos. Tina Fey/Amy Poehler were the only ones I really liked. Everyone else my reaction was just "Really?". The fight scene was just a big fail IMO. I'm glad you liked it but for me that's where the movie went from Good to Good God.

But they didn't stick to it enough. I think they missed on a few big points points:

1. Making it about Ron getting Veronica back again for the SOLE reason for the racial jokes. Granted, some were funny (and the dinner was probably the most consistently funny scene in the movie), but it's the same arc as the first film, which means they...

2. Underused Mardsen who was actually good in his limited screen time. He should have gotten the nightly news gig, and the movie should have been MORE about the change in news coverage between 24 hour news and more serious news coverage. The jokes were there, like you mention, but I don't think they carried the movie.

The first movie was carried by misogyny, and it was better for it. It was the central theme of the film. Everyone's reaction to Veronica, particularly Ron, changing times. Go back to the film and see how many jokes carried over nicely from scene to scene and how EVERYTHING was about Men and Women and how Women's roles were changing. It worked well.

Was this about Race differences? News? Ron's father issues? What was the central goal.? Big whiff there imo.

3. back to my point, so if then if you make it MORE about Mardsen and the news, you can avoid the whole recovering daddy angle which was terrible, particularly the lighthouse, shark and blinding phase, which is where the movie really dragged. And you probably could have spent MORE direct time focusing on how the family changes with Ron's work life.

Anyways, I just think it was unfocused. Clearly the not likes are in the minority, and I'll give it another shot, but at first glance....it just didn't capture the same level of comedy, and I don't see how anyone could say it was comparable.
