Cancel culture goes after the low hanging fruit that cannot or will not defend itself. The Mormons will rally and fight

Good story line but the cinematography is awful. It's filmed very dark and grainy.

Got to match how dirty everyone is

Awesome series. Love the cinematography, writing, acting and overall storytelling.

About to start the last episode. Hell of a way to kick off the year. Awesome mini series

This was a helluva series. I loved everything about it. tPOS Mormons.
Bridger's character was my favorite.
One thing is for damn sure with all of the character's in the show....if someone didn't trust someone else, the best course of action is to kill the other person. Every single character in the show was proven capable of killing.
I easily could've binged this in a day, but intentionally stretched it over two days.

I feel like this is the first western to really embrace 2020 filmmaking, for better or worse.
Lenses flair, CGI, dark, single shot scenes, etc.
Not a good or bad but we haven’t had a ton of westerns (Hostiles, Bone Tomahawk, and True Grit) as good as they are in the last 2 decades. Revenant tones were strong with this one.

Ok, I have gotten one minute into this where they leave from St. Joseph, MO. Already have a problem with this being a Midwest boy. I was just through St. Joe last week and it looks nothing like that. They're still in the fertile plains and it looks like a western hellscape of tumbleweeds and brush with mountains in the distance. No, St. Joe is in fertile prairie lands.
I hate when Hollywood does this.
Ok, moving on.

+1. It was brutal and a little disturbing w/ the inbreds. But it was a heck of a show!!

I had to pause the show and went on a 5 minute rant to my wife about this. Literally nowhere in MO looks like that. It bothered me so much.
Other than that, I'm loving it so far with 3 ep in.

most modern westerns really like their grayscale filters. Honestly, a lot of it is filmed like the opening scene of SPR, gritty, dark, dirty. It's a valid complaint.
If you've lived in the west (i'm from San Angelo, TX) skies are blue, hills are golden brown with green brush everywhere. not saying it's always "pretty" but it's never that gloomy or a barren hellscape.

Binged this in a single day (thank you snow storm).
I obviously really enjoyed it... but I about hit my limit with the female protagonist's idiocy with the little French girl.
That being said, it's pretty clear that's the point that her eyes are opened and she realizes what she needs to do in order to survive and she becomes as brutal as everyone else.

Finished it last night. Enjoyed it throughout (a little too bloody/gory if I had a complaint), the acting, cinematography, score, drama, etc.
Sara's character was super frustrating at first but obviously after the rape it was hard to be too upset with her add to the fact that she realized she was being dumb.
Slightly disappointed in the ending. Felt like I was watching the end of Cold Mountain. Brother Pratt and Abish ending was a little disappointing too. Never did I expect any of these stories to have a happy ending but that was such a quick switch for both of them. Abish willing to fight the Mormons and Pratt even though going crazy really had zero motivation to fight for the Mormons. Not really sure why he went from hatred to wanting to fight with them other than he was jsut going mad. There was no reason for him to want to kill the Indians.
If you need a western mini series fix after finishing this like I did (started a rewatch of the extended edition of The Hateful 8) and you haven't watched Godless on Netflix, it is 100% worth a watch. I'd give American Primeval a solid 7.5/10 and I think Godless was even better.

Binged this one half Saturday, half Sunday... agree with a lot of what you think.
Very bleak, predictable but unfortunate ending, surprised to know that the Mountain Meadows Massacre was a real thing and was pretty accurate to the show. They didn't hold back at all in painting the Mormons in a bad light, and deseredly so.
Weird that these people were all supposedly in the vicinity of each other in norhtern Utah and it would go from a blizzard with Sara and Isaac to seemingly temperate weather at the Shoshone camp.

Good show. Last episode (#6) was bad but overall worth the watch.
Acting was solid, - Kim Coates is really good, but the cinematography was awful. At times it was unwatchable.

Shea Whigham was great as Bridget, Kim Coates was great as Brigham Young, and Kitsch is great as the broken man. This was well done by Peter Berg. I hope he tries some more in this genre.

In one of the podcasts I listened to recently he mentioned that he was doing a project based on the book The Mosquito Bowl by Buzz Bissinger.

When the Mormons found him and brought him back to camp they told him his wife had been killed by the Indians. That’s why he was so eager to go and fight them
