Correct. It's a problem with the moderation of the board. Glad to see they grew up and let this thread stay. There is no more appropriate place to post threads about movies and TV on this website.

I'm looking forward to seeing this film, but I can't stand movie theaters anymore. I'll wait till it hits DW+.

Sorry, but your cries ring hollow. The truth of the matter is that some people have a political point of view that they want to spread, thereby injecting politics into every aspect of life. It’s reactionary because they feel like “the Libs have be doing it for years”.

Following your logic, the Presidential debate was “televised”…so why isn’t it being discussed here on the M/TV board? Because, the topic is overwhelmingly political.. Just like this documentary is. Just like Bowling for Columbine was.

The purpose of the thread isn’t to discuss this “movie” - it’s to pile on to “DEI IS THE DEBIL”

No, this is nonsense. This film format is closer to Borat-type films than anything from Michael Moore.

ETA: One of the individuals featured in the film, Robin Di'Angelo, even compared this to Borat. I didn't actually know that before responding to you initially and just now happened upon this quote because I searched Borat comparisons. LINK

quote:

DiAngelo claimed that shortly after the interview had ended, she realized she had been tricked into taking part in “a Borat-style mockumentary titled Am I Racist?” which was “designed to humiliate and discredit anti-racist educators and activists.”

Sounds amazing. I'm so excited to watch this film it is going to be hilarious.

I understand the difference between a socialist and a communist and think that “communist” is thrown around way too often.

As a libertarian/right leaning person, but a Christian, I have some socialist beliefs, I simply do not trust our government to not move into communism and distribute based on need instead of equally.

Dore is definitely a socialist. And that’s ok.

I think people have an unfortunate tendency to strawman the thought processes of people who vote differently. There (IMO) are a pretty substantial number of people who are just choosing between the lesser of two evils. IMO it is likely a significant majority when you look at the popularity of the two candidates.

What we have is somewhat of a pretense of choice, sometimes called a magician's choice where the voters are railroaded into one of two terrible options by the beaurocracy of the party system. Because we have separated the two parties primary systems and the primaries can be gamed (see Sanders vs Clinton in 16 or the process for both Biden and Harris in 24) you have ended up with three consecutive elections with just about the worst possible presidential finalists. All of them are frankly terrible - except when compared to their terrible alternative.

False. He lashes out at the far left because they sold out

His "wake up call" was when he held a "Medicare for All" rally at the Capitol, after coordinating with Sanders' and AOC's people. They both bailed on him and refused to appear. Then both began to distance themselves from the platform.

Since then, he has been SUPER critical of those 2, and the left has accused him of selling out because Reddit says so.

To be fair, I believe propaganda is simply any media created with the purpose of pushing a message.

That’s a stupid definition of propaganda. So a math teacher is a propagandist?

Propaganda is when a person hides their bias and is using messaging to intentionally manipulate the receiving party despite the evidence.

I have a tendency to agree with you and therefore upvoted your post. I strongly second the notion that the combined finalist in the last three presidential elections are certainly the worst in my lifetime.

But to me, this issue behind starting THIS thread about THIS movie is not about “voting” for the D or R every 2 or 4 years. It is about being constantly “outraged” over targeted political issues, and having to spread that outrage into every facet of life.

The whole point of this thread is “look at all the DEI loons”. Which hey, that’s fine to call that out, and I may or may not agree, but I came here to talk about “entertainment”, not politics. Leave that in its place.

You are the living embodiment of the woke mind virus.

Some of you are so far gone you can't even see this woke crap is not just "politics".
You want to define it as "political" so that it makes the topic "taboo" to talk about.

Don't click on the thread if you don't like it.

Currently sitting at 99% "Popcornmeter" on Rotten Tomatoes.

I wonder how long it will be before Rotten Tomatoes reverts to their old method of scoring and removes the "verified audience" piece when it becomes clear that audiences more closely align with the "review bombing" they believe they were combating.

LOL, so my not wanting to talk about politics on the Movie/TV board, somehow equates to being “woke”….

Even if you want to say that this issue goes beyond politics and is “sociological” it still is outside the supposed scope of this board.

Even if you believe this thread is political, no one is requiring you to participate. You chose to enter into this discussion that you have decided is political.

And that's what I have been wondering with this film.

I see people in this thread call it a political documentary.

I see people calling it a Borat style mockumentary.

I even saw someone say it's both (how would that even work?)

How is it outside the scope of this board? It's a film about a contemporary social issue. You came in here willingly. Was it just to tell people they can't talk about it? Just because you don't want to talk about it doesn't mean others can't.
