I knew Adam was toast when he started talked about hating to kill things for food. So stupid. Then flip to Katie Lee happily laughing about her frozen, dead squirrel.

Y’all can hate her all you want, but Karie Lee is rocking it. I think age effects you in the opposite way. If you can get some food and a decent shelter, an old metabolism burns a whole lot less calories than a young, mostly muscular guy. Her body fat % was also higher to start out with. At first I didn’t like her singing, but whatever it takes to stay sane out there is fine with me.

I’m not sure if Teimojin is in a good place. Juan Pablo seems like he can tolerate a lot as long as he doesn’t get pulled for medical.

Adam saying he didn’t want to get pulled but would take himself out instead was a total wuss move!

I like all three that remain. But since I’m a 60 year old lady, I’m Karie Lee all the way!

Yeah, I probably would have taken that grouse and given it a longer go, but I can respect him for not doing that after he had obviously decided to tap. No sense killing an animal only to tap a day or so later.

I don't know about many of you, but Juan Pablo reminds me of the character "Agador Spartacus" from the movie "The Bird Cage" with the way he talks. Every time I hear him speak I envision that character prancing around the kitchen barefoot with a crop top T-shirt and shorts.

That's a funny movie and Hank Azaria nailed that role

Juan Pablo has this. Which based on my track record, two previous favorites Tom and Adam, means he will probably be the next to tap.

Well, the latest ep just dropped and it took us to day 52 and Adam ran out of gas and tapped. I think most of us felt he was in the best position to win but the combination of being homesick and loss of energy broke him. His shelter was one of the better one's and it's unfortunate he couldn't finish

I knew early on he was out. A week in and he was saying the fishing was dried up. Yes, the fishing dried up in a 50 yard wide flowing river I was surprised he made it as far as he did without knowing how to fish/even attempting to fish.

While Karie Lee has a great attitude, at 57, I have to wonder how her age is going to affect her. Does she have 20-30 days left? Being near her age I would like to see her pull it off even though I have my doubts.

She is one of the weirdest people to ever be on the show but man she is good. She is a bad arse for a 57 year old woman.

quote:

JUAN PABLO

That's who I've been rooting for all along but I don't think his new strategy going forward is going to work. He said he was fasting from here on out. Out there it's not fasting, it's called starving. I hope that's not his strategy and he actually hunts. If it is his strategy, they are going to medically remove him pretty soon.

quote:

TEIMOJIN

He's the best hunter left so he has got that going for him, which is big. But, he's getting home sick. Never a good sign.

I think if Karie Lee can keep getting some kills, she can win it. She isn't home sick and she still seems to be semi healthy. If Juan Pablo hunts and doesn't starve himself, he can win. I just think he's going to go about it the wrong way. Teimojin can win it if he doesn't get too home sick but it's not looking good. His girlfriend is on his mind bad.

It's going to be pretty good.

I like all of the final three, although I am rooting for Juan Pablo. If I had to guess, I think Teimojin will be the next to go based on him talking about his girlfriend and mom.

She seems to be rock solid mentally and emotionally, which is huge at this point in the game. Her mentioning that history of the still birth was brutal.

Aren't they in the 55 ish day range? Since season 3, these guys have been lasting 75+ days. I figure they have to go in this thinking that you aren't going to win unless you can make it to that range.

It seemed like this year it took a while for people to leave, longer than previous seasons, but then they started dropping like flied in the 30-50 day period. This has been a good season.

But is it just me or does this seem like the easiest weather of any previous season? Other than maybe the Mongolia(?) season. It's cold and getting colder, but so far they have had a lot of sun and almost no rain.

Weather has been good but fishing has been really bad, not being able to use a gill net regularly sucks. You also can't really tell due to editing, it looks like it's going to get real cold real quick.

I recently re-watched Season 1 and it's wild how bad their weather was. Just nonstop rain.

I fast forward through just about everyone’s personal sob story. Sorry, I tuned in to watch a survival show. I don’t care about your personal life, but I get it plays into the survival aspect of the show when it comes to loneliness.

I have no idea how Kerri has made it this far. Maybe as someone else pointed out her slow metabolism is really helping her b/c it doesn’t seem like she has killed much at all. There’s no way she has eaten more than Terry and Dave, and those two were getting extremely skinny, although I’m sure they did a lot more. I guess she’s going with the Beko and Sam method of just doing nothing and living off your own fat.

In the context of Aline, agreed but in the “real world”……?

I like to watch YouTube videos of people who attempt to hike the Appalachian Trail from end to end. Some of the hikers prep for the better part of a year to be physically prepared and fine tune their equipment load out. They begin their hike and rarely have an issue getting adequate food and water. There’s a decent sized town along the trail that they can visit every other day. But many of them quit. Too many people underestimate what it’s like to be alone for 8-10 hours a day and what thoughts go through your mind in that time. Alone only magnifies the mental aspect of the experience.

I like it because it clues you in to what they have going on back home. Most of the elite contestants either aren't close to family (Roland) or are able to compartmentalize and not really mention family much (Jordan). The glaring exception to this IMO is Sam, dude is in GOAT consideration with Roland and Jordan.

Karie and Juan Pablo don't mention family much at all, whereas Teimojin does a lot.

Give me my cell phone w/ unlimited data plan + a solar charger on my backpack and I would be GOLDEN.

The ability to knock out all my podcasts that I'm behind on would be worth the effort.

We have definitely advanced this season, as fans, on massively helpful tips to survive +30 days:

1. Bulk up on body fat for 3-6 months ahead of insertion
2. Dye your hair multiple different colors to make all sorts of customer flies for fishing
3. Hunter - Gatherer Mentality HAS to have serious balance, if not MORE in favor of gathering (once you set plenty of snares)
4. Fishing has to be a skill you can employ in multiple types of scenarios. Extending into the waterways with a "dock" is a massive help

What else can we add to the list?

I would store up plants/roots that promote good flow with the bowels. If you are fortunate enough to score big game a straight meat diet can clog the pipes. Roland did this.

Keep family and friends in your thoughts, but not the primary thought when feeling lonely.

So many contestants tap due to missing family more so than injury or feeling totally depleted.

- House needs to have moss/some form of insulation and a decent chimney
- Pack a flint. If you don't, you might as well not even go because you're not winning.

Someone will probably adopt the idea a guy on Naked and Afraid recently did with tomato seeds. He ate a lot of tomatoes before flying to the destination, crapped out the seeds, planted them and had plants growing.

Episode 10 dropped. It ended on day 61. Its still anyone's contest.

Of the three I would say that Juan Pablo's fasting strategy is going to get the better of him.

Teimojin is playing strong and the only thing I can see stopping him is homesick or medical.

Karie Lee seems to have the right balance of attitude and skills to win. She's laughing and making snow angels on on day mid 50's.

My money is on Karie Lee
