I couldn't believe one guy acted like building a shelter was not a priority. Then another guy searched for 4 days and decided to build his shelter right where he was dropped off.lol As said above I'm glad to see there's animals there and they are allowed to hunt them.

well not a single contestant is taking a gill net, so i would assume it's not allowed for that reason.

Luck of the draw in where you're dumped...so maybe they decided to level the playing field.

One of the seasons, some dude made a shiteass small shelter and threw his gill net in the water and was catching like 5 fish a day and just chilled in his hut all day long doing jack shite...which made for boring TV. I think he finally tapped out because he was sick and tired of eating so much fish.

Welp, bye Jacques.
How do some of these people pass a psych eval?!?!?

I say it every season - these people are making their shelters too small.

I had a feeling he would be an early tap. Being a "Survivalist" and getting emotional over killing a squirrel for food was weak sauce. The bottom line is he got homesick....

Haha I thought the same. Anyone else tired of all the sad sympathy stories? I don’t care if you didn’t have a good childhood or got picked on growing up. Go out there trap, hunt and fish.

I remember a few years ago when they had a guy on there that was the real deal, but they wouldn’t let people hunt much that season, which he thought was bogus.

He set up camp, got his necessities in order, then said frick it and quit after like 20 days.

Dude was building working sinks and shite just to pass the time.

I knew he was going to tap as soon as he started talking about having deep remorse for killing that squirrel, and wouldn't let it go.

It was like it just ate at him until he was about ready to cry.

First dude to tap had found a trap. He could have won with that thing, especially when it got super cold. I could tell he had no idea how to set it up in the area properly and how to actually use it correctly. If he did, and truly realized what he had found, and how much of an advantage he had over everyone else if baited, covered and laid with sure fire entry/exit, he would have definitely stayed. That was a half million dollar find. Even had the chain and anchor. Totally unfair advantage he procured with that find. Anyone else who knew the potential would have figured it was a God-send.

And him tapping out seemed to be more than just wanting to be with loved ones. He'd been there like 11 days. The whole I feel so sorry I killed Rocky the rodent doesn't fly.

Or maybe he really is just a wuz.

I find it interesting to watch how all that bravado, piss and vinegar, etc. they spew prior to, and not long after being dropped off turns to self doubt, trepidation, homesickness, etc. in the course of a few days for some to a few weeks for others.

I realize it has to be mentally tough to go on day after day alone and relying on your survival skills to do even the simplest tasks we take for granted in our daily lives.

One thing I've come to know for sure about the people on this show------what goes on between the ears is as, or even more important than what they do daily to survive.

I think it has been discussed in the past, but I would imagine the producers pick "weak" contestants. If they put nothing but hardasses out there, we might still be watching season one.

They have to have early taps. That's the "Reality TV" aspect of it. They have to have people that while talented, don't have the mental chops to endure the long periods of isolation, frustrations and starvation....

What annoyed me about this dude is the location they are playing at appears to have great opportunities for food. This guy got food and still pussed out.

Didn’t he also say “I’m sorry” right before he released the arrow?

We’ve seen many players who say thanks to the animal for playing it’s role in the circle of life but Jacques took it to the next level. I think he convinced himself that he was killing things for fun out there - killing unnecessarily to win a game. He should have thought about that before signing up.

I think that might be a badass thing. The audience build up would be amazing after months 6/9/12+.

Jessie seems to be strong. This lady has a chance of having the first woman to win. She has a better grasps on the circle of life than Jacques, who tap last week.

The other Lady, Karie Lee, has the skills but she's also in her late 50's and I think the elements will get the best of her eventually.

Jessie definitely seems determined and strong.

Somebody said they always think the shelters need to be bigger to help with the mental issues. I understand that it's easier to build and heat the smaller ones. It looks like Jessie is building a damn house!

It was pretty interesting to watch Igor come to the realization that building a legit log cabin was physically killing him and yet he kept at it. He said he didn’t know how to pivot to another type of shelter. He wasn’t thinking straight.

Also, I noticed that Terry was carrying his beaver kill back to process it and the front of his outfit was covered in beaver blood. This was shortly after Benji showed that bears can smell carcasses, etc from miles away and seek out the source of the smell.

I think Benji gets a bear before it’s all said and done.
