This show is better than 98% of tv right now. You really have to be autistic about the Alien universe not to enjoy it

Yeah. I said it’s not the most gripping thing ever but it’s highly enjoyable. Until stranger things and only murders there is nothing that I’m waiting for other than this.

Even though I usually agree with SEK and MadKings political takes, I don’t get the overt criticism of this. It’s not Shogun but it’s also not Wheel of Time.

Because it destroys cannon and makes the timeline completely stupid. Forget the meta problems with story and character, this should’ve been a sequel not a prequel.

Fair take but the timeline has been stupidly for 2 decades. Everything since resurrection has been roll your eyes ridiculous.

It's ok but...

She can run like the six million dollar man but to go save her brother she runs like a regular girl?

How big of a wuss is her brother?

She enters the sealed lab and they don't hear her?
And they just left her on the floor?

...I'll keep watching

But they haven’t destroyed the first 2 movies until now. Don’t forget the reason Disney always does the prequel BS, it’s to cut in line and erase the original story and they’re doing it again.

I get the pull towards it, it looks fantastic, the music is great and those song choices to end the episodes are straight endorphin shots. I get that completely

What timeline is ruined? Weyland hasn't recovered the ship and the Cyborg erased the computer (after the syntj accessed it). If Prodigy is wiped out. Possible WY knows about the Xenomorph but doesn't have it. That's why the events of the first movie with the company wanting the asset make sense.

Then if Alien is Cannon, Yajuta have hunted Xenos for years. If the prequels are Canon David the Android made the Xenomorphs.
Personally I'm totally fine with both strories being tossed aside.
If anything this show exlands the lore.

It was already very stupid. Resurrection made it stupid. Prometheus made it stupid. Romulus made it stupid. Each successive filmmaker in the series took elements of lore they liked and did their own thing with them, not worried at all about resulting holes or conflicts.

Not to mention the extremely long journeys of all these voyages makes it so that nothing about the original film is affected yet. For all we know the Nostromo has already been in space for decades.

Being precious about Alien lore feels like a "I really need to dislike this show" kind of position. I'm sure there are such people out there, but I would hope those actual people accept that everything about Alien has been cobbled together with little regard for what came before.

So you think Prometheus and Covenant are great?

Like others have mentioned, the canon and timeline are already screwed up. What I care about most is actually putting a quality product out there that reenergizes the franchise and fanbase and this show seems like it's working towards that goal. I believe the showrunner already mentioned to not take the timeline too seriously, so that's what I'll be doing.

I mean, it’s not the Bible. And as it’s been pointed out, the movies and timeline have been contradicting themselves since Aliens. When I was a kid I remember a tedious letter to the editor of Starlog, a science fiction movie magazine, complaining how the Nostromo’s engine didn’t fully destroy the alien, but bullets tore the creatures up in Aliens. And how LV426 had rings in Alien but they were gone in Aliens.
