That one was a pretty low number card.
It should've been way higher. Your options are:
1) Choose a sacrifice in every room and still need dumb luck for MAYBE 1 person to escape
OR
2) Have an autistic savant in your group that knows BMW dimensions and happened to glance at/remember the building evac map and happens to guess correctly that the perimeter rooms are the only safe ones + have a girl sacrifice herself in the first room which was conveniently recorded on video to later reference. So absurd
If the show has a lot of the Option 2 gymnastics, I'll check out pretty quickly. Gonna watch Ep2 tonight

At the time, yea it was a stretch, but as I'll get into below, it really wasn't part of the game at all.
quote:
happens to guess correctly that the perimeter rooms are the only safe ones
This wasn't really a guess as much as process of elimination. They had two inside leading doors that were death. One door is death and one is life, that is the rule. The third guess, while yes still a guess, avoided the known which was going to an inside room meant death twice. After that was proven true the third time, it became a constant as it mapped out the inner rooms.
quote:
have a girl sacrifice herself in the first room which was conveniently recorded on video to later reference. So absurd
I don't think having someone in Japan live filming something is too absurd, that is pretty standard operating procedure
I don't think the first girl was absurd, when put into the situation they are in, but yes in order for Arisu's option to work, it was necessary to happen.
quote:
1) Choose a sacrifice in every room and still need dumb luck for MAYBE 1 person to escape
This actually is the only option the game was designed to have. The game was designed so they had to work as a team and in each room, someone would have to choose witht he 50/50 choice.
Though, technically they could have solved the game by tossing clothing through the door, I believe too. Something they never thought of. Similarly to the beginning when the girl tossed the ID badge throught he barrier. I think the wrong rooms were motion activated like that. Thats a theory of mine, but with the foreshadowing at the beginning, it seems plausible.
Option 2 solely existed because Arisu was able to outsmart the game. That was the purpose of Karube talking to him about his video game knowledge and stuff, being able to think of way to "break" the rules.
ETA: I'm trying to explain without revealing too much. While I agree, it wasn't my favorite game, it does make more sense as to its setup and what happened, as you get more into the show.

If you get to the 7 if hearts game and don’t like that episode, the show isn’t for you. It’s in E3.
Without giving anything away, it’s pretty brutal (emotionally) and is very much not like your option 2 synopsis. I’d bet you’ll love that episode. Report back if you end up watching it please.

The new season releases tomorrow.

Looks ambitious. But a fan favorite won’t be in the final season. Bummer.
Nijiro Murakami is not confirmed for Alice in Borderland Season 3, which suggests that Chishiya would not appear in the final season. Additionally, many media outlets also reported that Murakami was struggling with some mental health issues and was on an acting hiatus, further fueling this speculation.

That’s a bummer. He was definitely my favorite character. At least it was the actor’s decision and not a dumb choice by Netflix.
Just checked and the 6-episode season is up on Netflix.

No!!!!!!
Absolutely loved his character. Of all the characters, he has been the best one that feels like an anime character in live action. He did such a good job in that role.

It's been ages since I saw AIB so someone help me here.
Everything was wrapped up all nice and neat at the end of S2 from what I recall. We know what the borderland is/was, we know what happened after the first scene of the show where people disappeared, like we have answers to exactly what happened and everything was resolved. What is the deal with another season?

I watched half of the first episode. There is a group running games in the real world where the winner undergoes a near death experience which gains them entrance back into Borderland where the games are still going on (because many elected to stay in borderland at the end of S2). Thats as far as I’ve made it

Just finished it the other day. I didnt enjoy as much as S1 and S2, final episode was a bit of a slog to get through. But there were a couple episodes I really liked (the zombie game). Also seemed like potentially a 4th season would take place in the US??

Finished last night and boy, did that season suck...
The explanation of the borderland being a purgatory between life and death was interesting and something they could have done so much with, but outside of that, a pile of steamy shite.
So many wtf things to call out too. Very disappointed. Season 1 was amazing and this was a terrible way to end it. And wtf, they are going to pull the Squid Games "lets just make an american version"

This was my feeling about a new season. AiB as a stand-alone, two-season story arc is borderline perfection. It didn’t need a new season, even with the joker card reveal at the end.
But the comments on this page are more than bothersome to me. I will watch the new season, but man I am disappointed in how many people hate it so far. I may have to watch it and just go back to viewing it as a two season show.

It’s laughably bad… and some of the voiceover is comical, especially Usaga and Arisu interactions in real world.

Well I do watch it subtitled and not dubbed. So maybe that’ll be better for me.

It may be, but it’s just odd in general. You’ll have to come back and let us know. It’s the 2-3 interactions in their apartment. Just weird and odd convos and sudden 180 changes

I binged S1 and 2 over the weekend. I'm going to preface this comment by saying that I hated Squid Game, I dislike reality game shows, and I don't like Anime. Some of the games and dialogue are pretty weak throughout the series. The English dub is pretty bad all around. I hated the stereotypical Anime characters like invincible but quiet "The General" who stares off into the distance all conflicted and Shuntaro the smug know it all. At least we got to see a Japanese Anthony Kiedis as the King of Clubs.
All of that said - holy shite did they nail the ending! That was a bottom-of-the-ninth, walk off home run in game 7 of the world series ending. The last few episodes were phenomenal. I also enjoyed the face card bosses. They were pretty damn good. The philosophical takes they had were awesome. The King of Spades was an absolute badass. I loved The General's comment to him - "I never held it against you." Perfect.
I don't think I can bring myself to watch a S3 because S2 wrapped it all up so perfectly. Why ruin it?
