quote:Because Smith is unstable and he's their star. I'd guess that it was more placating Smith or avoiding upsetting him than their thinking that Tudyk would really become the runaway star (not having his name listed didn't make the character any less appealing).
Why would the studio agree to remove someone who was testing high.
But now Smith's status is lower and Tudyk's is at a career high, so I guess he feels safe discussing his frustrations.

I met Alan tudyk this past weekend. He’s a wonderful person. He took the time to connect with everyone he met. When folks would bring up some of the films he was in, he would instantly recall key lines from the films and deliver them on the spot. Being a huge Tucker and Dale vs. Evil fan, it was a thrill hearing him say “college kids!” And “we got your friend!” Great stuff! I will support anything that fella does.

i, Robot isn't even in the same universe. Just name only.
Will Smith is well known for being in adaptations that deviate a LOT from the original.
I Am Legend anyone?

I didn’t know that was him doing the voice. I thought for sure it was David Hyde Pierce.

True. Would be epic to have a Tucker and Dale vs evil part 2. Dude is great in everything.

I get that he was a bit insulted but to be honest he got the better end of that deal b/c he didn't have to do a million mind numbing interviews w/talking heads who didn't even see the movie asking the same 5 questions over and over.

I've never seen iRobot. Is it worth a watch?
