Watched the Prince Ali song on YouTube and I've gotta say, Will Smith actually did a really good job

I'm absolutely floored that anyone could have this opinion.

Beauty and the Beast did a near shot by shot remake of the animated version and it wasn't nearly as good.

Emma Watson sucked as Belle.

I like her as an actress, but she was surprisingly emotionless and she couldn't sing. On the other hand, Dan Stevens was fantastic as the Beast.

I'm not sure about the guy who plays Aladdin, but Naomi Scott has a very good voice.

RT at 64% with 47 reviews.

Jungle Book live action had a 95.

Beauty and the Beast live action had a 71.

Another blockbuster, another thread where posters let Rotten Tomatoes tell them to think about a movie despite looking at the wrong number for the movie.

Like clockwork.

Yeah not a good sign given how desperate people are to suck off anything that comes from Disney

Where there should be wonder, there is CGI. And where there should be a fun and exciting comedic presence with the Genie, we get Will Smith doing his best Kazaam impression.

The biggest problem with the "Aladdin" remake is it's all over the place. Sometimes it's a Bollywood movie; sometimes it's "Hitch 2."

This film is desperate to please, and trying very hard to do so. And it comes up short almost every chance it gets.

This isn't a movie. It's a chintzy revival, specifically designed to appeal to audiences who think "that looks familiar" qualifies as entertainment.

I've read a couple of cautiously positive reviews that, in combination with so many calling it retread trash, have my interest piqued.

None of the live-action remakes have been good (cinderella being the high point so far is pretty sad), so I shouldn't expect any different for Aladdin.

This is what I have been concerned about ever since I heard that Will Smith would play the genie. Several advance reviews said that he takes over the movie, and not in a good way.

I did hear the new version of "A Whole New World" and I like it. The two leads sing very well.

It's almost as if you looked for the most damaging reviews to quote.

I watched this with the kids. It was good.

Won't watch Aladdin. It looks beyond terrible.

132 reviews. 60% are positive. That's more than I would have thought.

Here’s an idea... since the Genie is mostly CGI, why didn’t they just reuse Robin Williams’s lines and have a completely CGI Genie? Would have been much better off.

I found the ones that were most in line with what I have come to expect from live action Disney remakes

Saw it tonight. The beginning was slow and gave off a more broadway feel than cinematic. Tbh, it started to flow better once Will Smith/Genie entered the picture. He did a lot better than I anticipated. Although I do agree with an earlier post it had a Hitch like feel. I also saw a little bit of Shark Tale Will Smith

....Spoiler cast review....

Jasmine...fine as hell
Aladdin...I’m 50/50 on his performance
Sultan...wish they would have kept his persona like an old stubby man who gets overly excited like the original.
Jafar...by far the worst of the entire film.
Raja...actually looked bad arse
Songs...I think overall they were done pretty well
