I mentioned in another thread that I had trouble viewing Scott Glenn as a "good guy" in any movie after seeing him for the first time as Wes in Urban Cowboy.

Another guy I had the same problem with was Ray Liotta. The first thing I remember him in was Something Wild (1986) where he played Melanie Griffith's maniacal ex-con/husband who terrorizes she and Jeff Daniels. The next movie I saw him in was Field of Dreams where he delivered a, "Is this heaven?" line with innocence.

You got any actors that you saw as bad guys first and had to relax a little to see them as good?

How about the other way around? Denzel in Training Day is one I've heard.

Anyone you saw first as a good guy and had trouble with believing them as a bad guy?

The ultimate "other way around" is good guy Henry Fonda playing the meany-killer in Once Upon a time in the west.

I saw Maid in Manhattan recently (or at least part of it), and the fact that Ralph Fiennes is the love interest of Jennifer Lopez is just incredibly off-putting. The greatest villainous actor of our generation is just a terrible idea for being the love interest. I just couldn't get it out of my head that he was about to call her an inanimate fricking object.

Well to be fair, Maid in Manhattan was released a very long time ago, over a decade ago in fact, I think that was long before he established himself as bad guy actor.

Hard to view Damien Lewis as a bad guy after seeing him as Captain Winters.

He was Amon Goeth, the most iconic non-fictional villain ever put on screen. I think he cemented his career with that one performance.

I'm sure this wasn't someone you had in mind when starting this thread but Chris McDonald played the bad guy in a few 90's comedy movies so its hard to see him play Ward Cleaver.

The Fly was the first movie I saw Jeff Goldbloom in where he was likeable. The only things I remembered him from before then were two despicable roles: the sleazy writer in The Big Chill and "Slick" in Silverado. I was surprised I had compassion for him as Seth in The Fly.

Alan Alda as the obsessed murderer in "Whispers In The Dark".

Never saw it coming because he had always been harmless Hawkeye.
