about to have an Alien marathon

GF is gone for the weekend, and i know she has no interest in watching these. i have never seen any of them, and was told that i have to watch them before Prometheus.
anything i should know before embarking on this awesome adventure?

Do yourself a favor and stop at Aliens, then watch Predator. Predator 2 is also better than the latest Predator movie. Avoid the AVP films.

Anyways, I am watching Alien and Aliens this weekend too, but my wife will be watching them with me. I could never get through the third one. I don't remember watching Resurrection. It is possible that I have seen it, but apparently, if I did, it was not good enough to remember.

Aliens is one of the all time best movies. AVP was a good movie. AVP 2 was horrible as well as Alien 3..

Alien and Aliens are GREAT movies. The first is suspensful/scary as shite and the second is more of an action/thriller.
Alien 3 is alright but I thought it was better than the reviews.
Alien Resurrection is solid for a fourth film but it's "alright" as well.
As for AVP....stay away from that garbage.

Alien is my favorite movie of any movie ever made and I'm a movie buff. IMO, it was the best-directed, best-cinemagraphed, best-scored, best-written, best-casted movie simply because it was all of the above in the same movie.
Get back to me after you've seen all of them and tell me what you think. BTW, it's aggravating to hear how much better Aliens was than the original.... Um, no, you weren't paying attention. I have seen it said numerous times that the first is suspenseful/scary and the second is an action/thriller. The first is suspenseful/scary/thrilling/creepy/foreboding. The second, while I'm not going to bash James Cameron (as it was a very good sequel), was an action movie on steroids.

The first two are classics, but I personally think Alien 3 is worth watching too. It's not great, but not bad.
Resurrection isn't a total disaster, but you wouldn't miss much by skipping it.
